printing large drawings

Post by Foxy »

For the last years, i've used the free pdfxchange viewer for printing large drawings (A1+) because it was very fast to print.
Since the last updates (i'm using vs 2.5 build 210.0 now) i cannot print drawings anymore wich are not a standard dimension (A2, A1, A0 etc.)
I have Win 7 64 bit
printer: Xerox wide format 6204 printer
latest printerdriver

For example:
I will print a drawing wich is 841 x 1400 mm i get a part of the drawing on A4
I fill in the propperties of the printer and tried with advanced settings, nothing works.
Standard format drawing (A0, A1, A2 etc) print perfect

When i print the same drawing (841 x 1400) in Adobe reader, it is ok.

any sollutions??

(sorry for my bad english, i'm dutch  )

Hello Foxy,

Welcome to our forums! Could you please check the printing settings in our Viewer as well - e.g. if "Choose paper source by PDF Page size" is turned on/off or if "Fit to printer margins" is selected.

Can you please make a few screenshots - of the print preview window in our Viewer, your printer's settings and possibly a scan of the printed result?
Please archive them into a zip/rar/7z file and then attach them to this topic. Direct image uploads are not allowed by the forum.

Best,
Stefan

Hi Foxy,

Thanks for the images.
I see that you've selected "Fit to printer Margins" - can you please try with scaling set to "none" - so that you have 100% scale. You might get a warning that some portions of the page won't be printed, but I presume your original document has some white border anyway! if at 100% scale you are still getting the incorrect result - then please try to also set up the paer as not 841 by 1400 mm but instead try using 1400 by 841, and then click the "Auto Rotate" sheets option in the Viewer and see if that will help.

We are going to release V3 of the Viewer by the end of this month and the printing engine in it is rewritten from scratch - so those errors should not happen there at all!

Best,
Stefan

the setting 1400x841 will not work (see att.)

scale set to none: same result.

perhaps you can suggest to download beta V3 so i can test the new printing engine?

Hi Foxy,

The V3 beta can be downloaded from here:
www.tracker-software.com/pdfxve3
But the printing engine is not yet complete, so printing is not at all turned on in this beta or I would have suggested that already :)

Hi Foxy,

It will be ready by the end of the month for sure and if we can do it - even sooner!
And yes for the moment please use Adobe for printing such files.

Stefan
