Plotter: PDF-XChange 4.0.pc3
AutoCad 2012 / Magicad
I have little embarrassing problem when I plot in AutoCad. In my job I need to plot tens or hundreds of plots each day. When I plot, a small configuration (Save as.) window appears before it saves the pdf. There's a little tick in the window, and it is selected by default. I always forget to untick it and everytime when I plot it opens the plotted PDF in default pdf viewer. Is there any setting where I can put this off?

Hello p34kt0p,
And welcome to our forums!
Please go to our printer's properties page and there uncheck the "Run Application after printing" checkbox (see attachment) and this should change the defaut to not opening the generated PDF file after printing.
Best,
Stefan

Thanks for a screenshot, but where did you find this window? I founds only this Settings -window. Attached picture.
And there's other thing that slows down the work considerably. Can the program remember the last location where last pdf plot was saved? I mean like for the individual file, individual last saved file location. Now the program remembers only last location for all files. For example Microsoft Office documents/files remembers the last location where I saved the PDF from a file, every file "remembers" the right last location. Is it possible to configure that?
Thanks!
Edit: I found this Settings window now.

Hi p34kt0p,
Glad to hear you did found the settings eventually
And as for saving different locations for different sources - no I do not think it's possible.
Cheers,
Stefan

It is extremely time-saving, handy feature (when you have hundreds of folders per one project

Hi p34kt0p,
If you have the "Show Save As dialogue..." checkbox clicked - you will get the last used folder, but if you uncheck that and have e.g. "%[DocPath]\%[DocName].pdf" as the file name macro, AND your printing application is sending the file path information to our printing driver - the resulting PDF should end up in the folder where the original file was.
Best,
Stefan

Re: Annoying little thing while plotting in AutoCad
Hi.
I have "Save as..." dialogue box checked and macro is %[DocName], but you maybe got it wrong what I meant.
For example I have file document.dwg located in C:/blah/blah2/blah3/blah4/
Then I plot the PDF file using your PDF-XChange driver to the other file location C:/print_storage1/project1/blah1/blah2/blah3
Then I open document2.dwg located in C:/blah/blah5/blah2/blah7/
Then I plot the PDF file using you PDF-XChange driver "Save as..." window sends the file to the last used C:/print_storage1/project1/blah1/blah2/blah3
What I'm trying to explain: then one week later I want to do some changes in document.dwg, when I try to plot it to PDF-file, it doesn't suggest the last used location of this file (C:/print_storage1/project1/blah1/blah2/blah3), it suggest the default location wich is configured in Print driver settings or the lastest file location used to save the PDF.
Sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand

Re: Annoying little thing while plotting in AutoCad
Hello p34kt0p,
Sorry to disappoint you, but what you are looking for is a feature that one application offers - as it stores the information in it's own type of files, and then retrieves it from there and uses it to generate (internally) a PDF. You want to achieve the same when using two applications, and I don't think this is possible.
The best you could do is have each file save in a separate folder based on the location of the original, but not the preserving of folders Word is offering.
Best,
Stefan
