Page Size Issues

I've been using pdf exchange for a few years now. Suddenly today, it decides that it wants to start printing everything on A4 sized paper. I've pushed it back to letter size but everytime i use the print driver, it goes back to A4 paper. What is going on?

Thanks for the post and welcome to the forums!

Could I get you to clarify whether or not the issue is with the Viewer or one of our Drivers? If it's the Viewer, then please try deselecting the option to "Choose paper source by PDF-page size" and see if that helps.

If the issue is with the driver, then could you let me know whether or not it's PDF-XChange Lite or Standard?

I'm in word or excel and I print to the PDF-XChange 4.0 driver and everything looks good. It writes the file and then it boots up the viewer and the document shows up in A4 size paper. I have no idea why as we don't use A4 paper here at all. Everything seems ok until the viewer pops up the document in A4. I'm using PDF-XChange view 2.5

Thanks for getting back to me - the next thing to try here, would be to download and run the trial of Version 5 to see if that helps:

Alternately, it may help to make sure that you are using the latest build of Version 4:

Also, are you printing through the File --> Print method, or via the Office Add-in?

ok, I downloaded Version 5 and it still thinks I have A4 paper. I am using the File ---> Print method and then I select PDF-XChange as my driver.

Can you please supply sample files (before and after conversion) in a zip archive and also advise what versions of Windows and MS Office you are using and we will take a look and advise.

I'm a little pooched here - I downloaded the beta version and now my documents have the tracker watermark on the corners. I can't send this out to clients. How can I roll back to my paid version?

We spoke on the phone and via email - I thought I'd post here for the benefit of other Users though. As I said in the email:

As soon as we put the phone down, I had a thought - the PDF to Paper output size could well be being set by your physical printer itself. The way to test whether this is the case, would be to keep all of the current print settings that you showed in your screen-shot, and just switch to a different printer (ours would be a good way of testing, as it is capable of printing to almost any size). If the size being displayed changes to "Letter", then it's very likely your Printer - you should then be able to remedy it by going into the "Properties" in the Print dialogue, then setting this there. If that's a no-go, then you may need to update your Printer Drivers...

I'm just posting about the 'tip' that finally resolved this. It turns out that there's an option within Excel to "Scale content for A4 or 8.5 x 11" paper sizes", which is under File --> Options --> Advanced --> Scroll down to General, that must be deselected. See screen-shot for a specific view for Excel 2013.

This could be in different places for different versions of Excel, but I would assume that it's fairly similar.
