Page number: Use the indexed one instead of the actual one

Post by ws2r »

For the page number box, it is possible to use the indexed page number of the file rather than the actual one?

The Page pane on the left recognises that there are pages "i", "ii", "iii" etc.
but when I entered theses numbers into the page number box, it did not work.
Similarly, the indexed page "1" also becomes page 4.

Hi ws2r,

Thanks for the post - Version 2.5 of the Viewer doesn't support Roman numerals, but the partial release of the Editor (Version 3 of the Viewer) does. Please download and install from the following link and it should do as you need:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDFXVE3.zip

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the prompt reply!

Actually, I was not intending to go to those Roman-numbered pages.
The issue is actually that when reading eBooks I always need to do maths before going to the referred "Page 137" because of the PDF page number occupied by the front matter.

Is there a way that, provided that the book recognises indexed page number, I can go to "Page 137" by simply entering "137" at the Page number box?

Thanks again!

(p.s.: I actually have tried the Editor 3, but since I am used to portable apps, I will probably not be using the new prog too soon.)

Hi ws2r,

It seems to me like this topic and #17412:
https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... 62&t=17412
Are the same (or started the same) - so shall we keep the discussion in just one of those?

Cheers,
Stefan

not really LOL as i am not upgrading to the XChange Editor at this stage, and I don't hv the option of "Use logical page numbers" at my XC Viewer (2.5.205).

Maybe I should upload a screencap to explain (so sad that all pic formats are rejected!)
As you can see, the left red circle says the page number "136" while the right says "152",
meaning that if I am referred to "Page 136" by the book, I have to type "152" (i.e., by adding 16) in order to get to the right page.

Is it possible for me to get straight away to "Page 136" by entering "136"?

As explained - only using the Editor upgrade can you use as required - and do note that like our Viewer, you can use the Editor for free without a license (though your Viewer license may already entitle you to a free upgrade depending on the date purchased) and both products can co-exist without interfering with the operation of the other.
