Hello,

when I'm trying to create a pdf out of Word or Excel 2010 using the adin,
it takes a long time before something starts - something seems to "hang".
I'm useing Printer 5.5 build 269

Could you please provide details on your system, such as the processor type, OS and the amount of RAM you have available? If you're unsure of where to find these, go to Control Panel --> System and Security --> System and it should all be there.

Given the PC specs., it's unlikely to be the system. I'll have a go at reproducing this my end, but if it's a no-go, I'm not sure what we'll be able to do (as Paul said), given that we'll need to be able to see the problem to solve it.

Thanks for the update - unfortunately, I'm still not able to reproduce this my end. It's very likely that there may be something that's sitting in your system (perhaps a virus) that's causing this, as you're the only person that I've seen report this issue. I would suggest running a virus scan and, if it comes back clean or if cleaning the system doesn't help, then it may be that there is another application that could be causing conflict or generally slowing down your computer; are there any other applications that display such issues?

Lastly, are the files that you are printing large files? Do they have a lot of hyperlinks? If so, then could you please provide a sample, packaged in a *.zip folder - you can upload here or, if you don't want the general public to be able to access the file, you can email the file to support@pdf-xchange.com, with a reference back to this topic, and we'll take a look from there.

I'm not sure what more we can suggest, if the above fails, given that we can't reproduce this issue. Maybe there's more information that you can provide us.

My PC is fast as a shark
And no, there is no Malware on my system for sure.
Just XChange runs so slow.
Creating a pdf from Word 2010 (1 page, only text) takes a minute.

I think, there might be anything in upgrading from Win7 to Win8.
Since upgrading, I've trouble with my brother drivers too.
So, maybe I go back to Win7 or have to do a clean install for Win8.

I figured that it probably wasn't an issue with your hardware. You're right in that it could be an issue with OS-Hardware compatibility though. If your PC hardware wasn't optimized for an OS, then that could definitely slow down certain programs, functions or software like scanner/printer drivers.

If you do decide to try the re-installation of Win 7, let me know if the problem has been solved or if it continues - I'm interested in how it turns out and would be nice to have the update for this forum thread, so that anyone with a similar issue has an up-to-date version of events.

I have the answer. The reason for slowing down is the newest version of G Data Internet Security 2014.
Uninstalled it and everything works fine.
