Encryption
A password is needed to protect a document - but is the underlying document fully encrypted, or just the metadata? If not fully encrypted, any suggestions as to a product to use to do this? A password protected file is not enough security for what we need to do- it also needs to be encrypted.

Re: Encryption
Hi ksalter,
if you require more security than the password may I suggest you look at FileOpen? http://www.fileopen.com/ We support this security handler and Adobe have a plugin for it too.

Re: Encryption
Can you clarify what is encrypted - a password is entered and you are asked to choose the level of encryption by selecting an Abobe version - e.g. Adobe 9 - 256 AES....

Re: Encryption
Hello ksalter,
Is this question related to FileOpen or the general password encryption you can use with our Viewer?
If it's for FileOpen - then you will need to search the answer on their help pages, but generally AES256 bit encryption is considered sufficiently secure.
Best,
Stefan

Re: Encryption
I was referring to your viewer. Is it just the password that is encrypted or the whole document?

Re: Encryption
Hi ksalter,
Thanks for the clarification - placing a password on a document will actually encrypt the document and the Adobe versions that you select simply refer to earliest version with which you wish to maintain compatibility (by default, this is set a version 6.0 and later).
Hope that helps!
