App will not remember I want it to be used in the browser

Every time I start PDF-XChange Viewer as a my normal, non-admin user, I get prompted as follows:

Do you wish to allow your Browser to display PDF files - using this application?

From there I check "do not prompt in the future" and answer "Yes."

Then I get a UAC prompt, enter the admin's credentials, and would think something gets recorded e.g. in the registry.

But the next time, I get prompted again!

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tracker Software\PDFViewer\FileAssociations\DisplayInBrowser is set to 0x00000001

Any clue?

I'm running 2.5 (build 210.0) on 32-bit Windows 8, FWIW.

Thanks for the post - while I can confirm that I can reproduce this problem, I'm not sure how the Developers are going to want to take this, given that we're in the process of updating the Editor and trying to replace the Viewer with it. Before I make any development tickets for this issue, I'd like to bring this to the Developers and ask them for their thoughts.

Also, do note that selecting "Run as Administrator", when in the non-admin account, correctly set the desired parameters for me, so I'd suggest trying that as a workaround for now.

Having spoken to the Devs., they have asked me to make a ticket for this - the ticket number is RT-1883.

Hi,

Thx for dealing with this issue. In a sense, I'm kinda glad you can repro it...

While I confirm that running the viewer with "run as administrator" doesn't get me the prompt, it doesn't set the settings so that without "run as administrator" the prompt disappears!

Looking forward to hearing from dev on this.

As I am an experienced developer / PC power user, don't hesitate to ask me for "complex" experiments or reg tweaking.
