How can we add a hyperlink. We read your official instructions but it didn´t work. Is this a bug or what do we have to do step by step.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Re: Adding a Link doesn´t work
It would be very important that links can for SEO-reasons be added in a way that words serving as anchor. As far as I see it correctly in the pdfxchange view pro it ist only possible to add links for an area and not for words as anchor.

Re: Adding a Link doesn´t work
Hello Gerdi,
In the Editor select the link tool and add the rectangle on the desired position in the document. Then right click the link and select properties. In the properties area that will open on the right click to add actions - and follow the on screen instructions.
Links in PDF are rectangle areas which you can click - the text below can be searched separately, and I am not sure how exactly contents of PDFs fares for SEO purposes - but it should not matter that the link is separate from the text below.
Best,
Stefan

Thanks for this quick reply.
Hyperlinks in pdfs are counted by google and therefore they are very important.
Are you sure that in pdfs it is generally not possible to link hyperlinks to certain words like it is possible in html-files and is called anchor-text (what is very important concerning SEO) and that hyperlinks in pdfs are always only linked to rectangle areas?
If yes this would be a very important information for the SEO-Work regarding pdf-files.

Re: Adding a Link doesn´t work
Hi Gerdi,
links in PDF documents are coordinate based and not anchored to text. They are definitely not "hypertext" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypertext) nor should it really be described as a hyperlink (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperlinks) as in an HTML document.
There really is no way to associate text with the link the way you are looking to do without relatively complex programming. One would literally need to go into the contents of the PDF file, look for the coordinates of the link and then look to see what content is at those coordinates. It could be text, it could be an image or there may be nothing defined. The latter is unlikely in your scenario as we are specifically discussing hypertext however I make the point to be sure it is clear.
This is not related to our software specifically, it is in the nature of the PDF specification. Are you up for a lot of programming? We have Software Development Kits that would give you the tools you need if that's something you want to look into. It would not be trivial however.

Re: Adding a Link doesn´t work
Thanks a lot for this interesting answer which helped me to plan and to do my SEO-work in a good way.
Instead of hyperlinks I will additionally use urls in the text containing the keywords which are displayed by many pdf-tools as a link like www.example.com/mykeyword
Beside this I now tested the 'editor' for a while and it looks really not bad. What do you think when will adaptable shortcuts be implemented in the editor as it is perfectly done in the xchangeviewer pro? In my opinion it is one of the most important features which makes xchangeviewer much better than many other pdf-tools.

Hi Gerdi,
Thanks for the understanding.
I am not 100% sure what you mean by "adaptable shortcuts" - so could you please show us an example?
Regards,
Stefan

Very nice feature especially when you use system-shortcuts in other software which could interfere eachother.
Is there already an estimation when the next update of the editor will be published? Or is there a roadmap? I am very interesting in this ...

Sounds good.
As soon as this feature is implemented in my opinion the editor is already useful for professional workers ...
Is there any roadmap you can give (not exactly but maybe in an approximate manner)?

Hi Gerdi,
In the next few builds prtty much all the functionality from the Viewer should be made available in the Editor as well - and we usually release builds every 3-4 weeks.
Regards,
Stefan
