I hope this is the right forum for the free edition of PDF-Xchange Lite 2012 v5.0.270 as I cannot find another forum.
I've just downloaded it and commenced installation. All the files appear to have been copied and it got to the part saying "finishing" but it just hangs and never moves on. I've had to break out of Setup as it won't finish. PDF-Viewer has been installed and works but no printer driver has been setup.
I'm running Windows XP SP3.

Re: PDF-Xchange Lite 2012 fails to complete installation
Hi McSporran,
which installer file are you using, PDFX5SA_LE.zip or PDFX5SA_LE_H.zip?
We have seen an issue with this build of the lite driver in XP that we are working on though the install finished in that case. It is important to know which installer you used because one includes the Viewer. If you used PDFX5SA_LE.zip (no Viewer) did you select the option to download the Viewer during the install process?

Re: PDF-Xchange Lite 2012 fails to complete installation
I used the PDFX5SA_LE_H.zip. I did not know there was more than one download. I already had the viewer installed and then found that the new install went to install another copy of the Viewer. Right at the last point when it was "finishing" I assumed it maybe took so long because it was uninstalling my previous Viewer. But after waiting a very long time it was obviously stuck and I broke out of it and saw that my previous copy of Viewer was still in situ.Paul - Tracker Supp wrote:which installer file are you using, PDFX5SA_LE.zip or PDFX5SA_LE_H.zip?
Thinking that maybe the failure was caused by my previous installation of Viewer I uninstalled it, rebooted and tried reinstalling PDFX5SA_LE_H.zip but still got same failure.
I looked in the install folder and found under PDF Viewer a new copy of the Viewer which works. Under the PDF-XChange Lite 5 folder is a file called PrnInstaller.exe and I thought maybe if I run that it will install print driver, but it hangs too.

Re: PDF-Xchange Lite 2012 fails to complete installation
Hi McSporran,
We've uploaded a new copy of build 211 yesterday, however your problem seems to be a bit different.
Please try to uncheck the "Display PDF in Browsers" option at install time, and this should allow the installation to complete successfully. Then Opent he Viewer and go to Edit -> Preferences -> File Associations and you can turn this option on once again.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: PDF-Xchange Lite 2012 fails to complete installation
I've downloaded the new build and notice that this time it's the version without Viewer (12MB as against 31MB download size). I started the installation and it gave the error:Tracker Supp-Stefan wrote:We've uploaded a new copy of build 211 yesterday, however your problem seems to be a bit different.

The procedure entry point InitializeCriticalSection could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL.dll
I had noticed previously that this error has come up every time after the Setup process failed. I nevertheless pressed on with installation and it offered me to download and install the Viewer but I declined. This time I got a successful conclusion of Setup.
However due to the InitializeCriticalSection error I decided to uninstall, remove all related f iles from Program Files, reboot and reinstall hoping for an error-free install. This indeed happened (and again leaving out Viewerdownload and install) so the InitializeCriticalSection error is clearly related to the failure of Setup.
Because I had elected not to have Viewer downloaded and installed I then prepared to install Viewer separately. I downloaded the lastest 2.5.211 build and found I was unable to complete installation because it hung at the end of Setup just like yesterday's PDF-Xchange Lite. This suggests to me that the hang problem is in the Viewer installatiuon rather than the basic PDF-Xchange Lite. Until I tried installing PDF-Xchange Lite yesterday I have been using Viewer alone for many years and never had a problem installing it.
In order to get back my Viewer functionality I have temporarily installed Viewer portable which obviously does not have any installation problem.
I hope this helps in diagnosing the problem of installation hang and that it may move you forward in solving it.
