PDF-XChange is not compatible with Firefox 22.00
Just auto updated Firefox to v22.0
FF alert advised that "Print pages to PDF 0.1.9.0" extension has been disabled, as being unsuitable with FF v22.0
I am currently trialing PDF-XChange Viewer v2.5 (build 210.0 Feb 25 2013; 15:34:29)
If there is no PDF-XChange solution I will have to downgrade FF to v21.00 ... ??
-----
How do I "attach" PDF-XChange Viewer v2.5 (build 210.0 Feb 25 2013; 15:34:29) to Palemoon ( a mozilla based browser), exclusively for Windows only -- as my preferred PDF reader ?
Thank you

Hi bawldiggle,
Thanks for the post - I've just tested this and I can seem to get it display in browser either. I will report this to the Dev. Team and will see if there's anything that can be done. Mozilla have been 'angling' this way for some time now, so I can't make any promises that we can do anything at all, but we'll certainly do our best!
Cheers, Will.

Re: PDF-XChange is not compatible with Firefox 22.00
Hi bawldiggle,
it works in Firefox 22.0:

make sure you not only disable other PDF plugins in Tools --> Add-ons --> Plugins but also check in Tools --> Options --> Applications --> PDF and select "Use PDF-XChange Viewer (in Firefox)"

One thing to note, it appears that the (in Firefox) option can only belong to one plugin. I had the PDF-XChange Editor active (also works in FF22.0) and could only set Firefox to open PDF in the Standalone Viewer, not inside of Firefox. I disabled the PDF-XChange Editor plugin, restarted Firefox and then the PDF-XChange Viewer Add-on was available to use in the Browser.
Also, I don't believe that "Print pages to PDF 0.1.9.0" is ours. That's not a version number we use.

no idea here I'm afraid - I must confess my ignorance, until now I had not ever heard of the Palemoon browser. I can only get Adobe to work in Palemoon - even with it disabled it is still being called. I'm afraid we don't officially support Palemoon, just Firefox, Opera, Chrome and IE.How do I "attach" PDF-XChange Viewer v2.5 (build 210.0 Feb 25 2013; 15:34:29) to Palemoon ( a mozilla based browser), exclusively for Windows only -- as my preferred PDF reader ?

Re: PDF-XChange is not compatible with Firefox 22.00
For me, that wasn't enough. I had to uninstall the Viewer, then re-install and reset the settings that Paul specified. So if needed, please try uninstalling, then re-installing using this link:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDFXVwer.zip
Hope that helps!

Re: PDF-XChange is not compatible with Firefox 22.00
Hi "Paul - Tracker Supp"
Thanks for your colourful response.
1. PDF-XChange with Mozilla browsers (Firefox) ... SOLUTION
- I discovered my extension was "Print pages to PDF 0.1.9.0"
- posted a thread on Mozilla help. ... https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/963816
- resulted in a link to Version 0.1.9.2 ...https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... /versions/
- problem resolved, did not have to downgrade Firefox ... an easy outcome
- but I would prefer to use PDF-XChange Viewer in PaleMoon ... read on ...
- strangely there is no link to the PDF-XChange author in Mozilla add-ons page, which is abnormal
. .. nor is Version 0.1.9.2 listed thru normal "channels" ... ie, Firefox -> Tools -> Addons -> Get Addons
- a downloadable addons file would be very helpful and would simplify using PDF-XChange in other Firefox "forks"
Thanks to all for your help
-----
- Palemoon is for WinXP/7/8 only (not Linux, nor Apple/Mac)
- Palemoon home page ... http://www.palemoon.org/
- free
- far more stable than FF (in my experience)
- all irrelevant code (eg, Win95, Win2000) has been removed
- author (Swedish) was head of Firefox devt team until he "forked" out on his own.
- FF are pursuing a "Chrome" route, Palemoon is not.
- PM is very trim program and the excellent user-forum is actively supported by the author + others.
- most Mozilla extensions/add-ons are compatible
- some add-ons have been integrated into Palemoon, very convenient and more efficient.
- default settings are more logical than FF
- PM user forum solved a major problem for me (that was ignored by mozilla/Firefox forum)
--------------------
EDIT
Just discovered Palemoon "Plugins" lists...
Adobe Acrobat 9.5.5.316:= Enabled
PDF-XChange Viewer 2.5.210.0:= Enabled
... back to drawing board ... atleast Firefox is fixed
Thanks for your colourful response.

Re: PDF-XChange is not compatible with Firefox 22.00
Hi bawldiggle,
Thanks for the update - I'm glad that Firefox is fixed!
As for the Palemoon issue, this is likely because we have no plugin that has been specifically developed for it and, as such, I'm afraid that we cannot support any issues that may arise within that browser.
I apologize for that, but given that there are so many 'flavours' of internet browser out there, we cannot possibly support them all, so have chosen to stick with the most mainstream of them.
Cheers,
Will

Re: PDF-XChange is not compatible with Firefox 22.00
Hello "Paul - Tracker Supp"
Thank you again for your input.
Displaying PDF links in Firefox is not my problem. PDF-XChange performs admirably.
My problem has developed "tentacles" ... see my thread "Firefox v22 Extension "Print pages to PDF 0.1.9.2" ..."
https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... 35&t=17938
ie, creating a PDF file of a web-page (Firefox addon/extension is not the Tracker product)

Hello "Will - Tracker Supp"
Have you read my "rave" in my post of 6-July 2013 ?
At the moment I cannot even mount Trackers addon/extension in Firefox v22. All I get is "fromDoctoPDF" app. since updating to FF v22
See my other thread "Firefox v22 Extension "Print pages to PDF 0.1.9.2" ... https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... 35&t=17938
Palemoon is a fork of Mozilla Firefox (it is a Mozilla browser). Almost all Firefox addons work in Palemoon (except for those addons that have been integrated into Palemoon)Will - Tracker Supp wrote:As for the Palemoon issue, this is likely because we have no plugin that has been specifically developed for it and, as such, I'm afraid that we cannot support any issues that may arise within that browser.

Re: PDF-XChange is not compatible with Firefox 22.00
Hi bawldiggle,
Thanks for the post - firstly, for the Firefox plugin issue (mostly for outside readers, as you'll get the notification), please refer to this forum for details on my response:
www.tracker-software.com/forum3/viewtop ... 35&t=17938
As for the plugin in Palemoon -
Falining that, I will see if there is anything that our Development team are willing to do at this point, but, being a little blunt and with the best will in the world, given that the vast majority of our Development resources are being put into bringing the Editor to a point where it can replace the Viewer, I'm not sure what they'll want to do about this.
Let me know if the copy over works!

As for the plugin in Palemoon -
- this still holds true, I'm afraid, as it may well be based of off Firefox (took a look yesterday), there are still going to be huge descrepancies in the overall structure of the browser that may, or may not, allow for a direct transfer of the plugin. At the moment, this is likely because no plugin was developed for the browser, so no plugin has been installed into it at all. You could try copying the file npPDFXCviewNPPlugin.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\plugins into the Palemoon plugin folder.....there are so many 'flavours' of internet browser out there, we cannot possibly support them all, so have chosen to stick with the most mainstream of them.

Hi bawldiggle,
Not a problem! It seems like we may have similar jobs

Definitely let me know how this works out though, when you get a chance, I'm interested to see if that will do the trick!
Cheers,
Will
