Found pdf files (after search) sortable by date? Adv filters

Post by mattad »

Assume I use the built-in search function to search for certain text patterns in all my *.pdf files on my partitions.

XChange Viewer Pro found at the end 325 files.

How can I

1.) sort all the found pdf files by their (last modfied) date?
2.) filter out (already during search) all files last modified before 4th April 2011?
3.) filter out (already during search) all files with a size lower than 500 Bytes?

If this is currently not possible: Can this feature be included in the next release?

Thank you
Matt

Hi mattad,

You can't do that inside the Viewer's advanced search pane, but the Viewer also installs the Shell Extension, so you can perform a search for your term using the Windows Search directly inside an Explorer window - and you will get a list of files answering your search criteria. You can then arrange the result as any normal list of files by size, date created, date modified, etc.

Thank you for answer,

Maybe you could add a sort and filter criterias INSIDE XChange Viewer (Pro) as well in the next
release?

Thank you

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the suggestion. We will consider it for the Editor but I doubt that any new features would be added to the current Viewer. And then - you want to filter on file properties like size and modification date - something which Windows Explorer is perfectly capable of doing, and then once you've had your results filtered you can then load only the files of interest in the Viewer/Editor and be sure that your search string is also present in those files you have left after your filtering process.

Stefan
