Unable to Sign Documents

Post by sunnyengineering »

When I sign a document, it presents the save dialogue, after I click "Save" it reports: "Error saving document to"...":Error [System]: Object already exists."

I have attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the software, removing all related registry keys, but the problem persists.

Hi sunnyengineering,

I just ran a test of signing a document on a Win 7 x64 Home Premium machine using the current installer and it was able to save the signed document without issue. Can you tell me the following?

What kind of certificate are you using? A self signed cert created in the Editor? An existing cert in your Windows System Store? An existing cert from a file? Or a hardware USB based certificate?

Sincerely
Best regards

have you tried to successfully use the Cert in any other application ?
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

I encrypt documents and spreadsheets with MS Office 2010. I am not sure what certs it uses.

I would happily follow directions to install a new cert if you knew where I could find them.

When you are in the screen where you choose what cert - there is an option to create your own cert using the Viewer and save it in the Windows System Store:

Can you try signing with a cert you make in the Viewer and saved to the System Store?
