Hi,
Is there a way to define a keyboard shortcut (or any other fast way) to jump between straight and squiggly underline? Currently I have a shortcut that does a single underline, but to make it squiggly, I then have to re-select the underline and then use the mouse to select the underline type from the properties dropdown (or, before I do the underline, I can change it in the properties menu bar, but then that changes it for future underlines as well). My Android reader has an option to initiate either single or squiggly underline from a shortcut and it's super-handy. I was hoping I could find a way to get similar functionality to quickly jump back and forth between the two types without having to use the mouse to fiddle around with properties, but so far I haven't found a way.
Thanks,
Kennedy

Re: Shortcut to Jump Between Straight & Squiggly Underline?
Hi kc3,
Thanks for the post - this can be done be using the Comment Styles palette
to create two different styles of the underline, then assign them both shortcuts from View --> Toolbars --> Customize Toolbars --> Commands --> Properties. These can also be added to the toolbar by finding them in the commands list, then dragging them to the toolbar.
HTH!

Re: Shortcut to Jump Between Straight & Squiggly Underline?
Hi Will,
The Comment Styles Palette looks very interesting... I had not made use of that before. Thank you very much!
I have cloned the underline tool in the Comment Styles Palette to create a Straight Underline and a Squiggly Underline copy of it. However, when I go into View --> Toolbars --> Customize Toolbars --> Commands I can't seem to find the new ones anywhere, so I don't seem to be able too assign the new palette options to a keyboard shortcut or to the toolbar. Is there a trick to getting that last step to work?
Many thanks!

Hi kc3,
I'm glad that you're liking the Comment Styles Palette - It's something that I use extensively and it can be pretty powerful
You should be able to find this either by searching for "underline Tool" in the Commands search field, or by looking in the Custom Comment Styles section of the Commands list. Are you not seeing it anywhere in there?
Cheers,

Re: Shortcut to Jump Between Straight & Squiggly Underline?
Hi Will,
Thanks for the quick reply. No, I don't seem to have it show up. When you say the Commands search field, where is that? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. When I go to View -> Toolbars -> Customize Toolbars... and then click the "Commands" tab I get a list of Categories on the left and Commands on the right. I have gone through all of the Categories, but I haven't found a Command that matches the name of the Underline tool I cloned via the Comments Styles Palette (or some name that might fit). I do see the default Line Tool, Underline Text, and Underline Text Tool, but not my cloned copy. Am I in the wrong place?
Thanks again!

Hi kc3,
It sounds like you're in the right place, so I'm not entirely sure why you're not seeing it. Can you send a screen-shot of what you're seeing? It should resemble something similar to mine: Cheers,

Hi Will, here you go. Is it because I'm using the free Viewer?

Hi kc3,
Thanks for that and for getting back to me - I apologize, I misread and thought that you were using the Editor! This functionality was not possible in the Viewer, so I would recommend downloading and doing this with the Editor, as this will allow you to set shortcuts for individual styles:

Hi kc3,
Not a problem, always glad to help. Again, sorry for the mistake there - I'm so used to dealing with the Editor these days, that I sometimes forget the Viewer entirely
Have a great day
