Problem with stamps palette

Hi all,

I'm having a problem with the stamps palette in PDF-XChange Viewer Pro (v2.5), running on Windows 8.1.

I use two sets of stamps for proofreading, one with red symbols ('BSI - red') and one with blue ('BSI - blue'). I was previously able to switch between the two sets within the palette - I think I just needed to tick/untick the boxes on the left.

Now, when I open the palette, the blue stamps appear, and nothing changes when I tick/untick the boxes, so there seems to be no way of getting the red stamps to appear (see screenshot 1 attached*). I know that the red stamps are still there - they do show up in the drop-down menu that appears when I click on the stamp tool at the top (see screenshot 2 attached*).

* I've had difficulties trying to attach the screenshots, so I'm not sure whether they will show up, but hopefully they're not essential.

Can anyone please help?

I suspect that may be the issue. Please try downloading and running the latest installer (link below) to update and you should then find the issue resolved:

Thanks, Will. When I started up the installer, I got this:

Warning - please read before continuing or your existing installation may cease to function fully !

Setup has detected a previous installation of this product using an older style serial number - no longer valid for this version.

If you choose to install, the first time you start the application it will attempt to retrieve a free upgrade and serial number directly from our site. If this is not possible because your maintenance has expired you will need to purchase extended maintenance/upgrade or the new installation will operate only in evaluation mode.

However please note if you do not have maintenance in place and do not wish to purchase the upgrade to allow you to use this product - please exit this installer or your old version will cease to function fully except in evaluation mode.


A month ago I got two emails that said "Maintenance plan for the product PDF-XChange Editor Single User License v.3.0.306.1 expires on 24 Apr 2014." I didn't do anything about this at the time. Until just now, I had forgotten that I had been upgraded (not through my own choice) from Viewer to Editor last December ... confusingly, the About screen still says "PDF-XChange Viewer".

So, now I'm confused - should I install Editor (€31), Standard (€31) Pro (€56), or possibly Lite (€17)? Basically I need to be able to use stamps (imported ones as well as standard), commenting tools, and tools such as the typewriter, highlighter, call-out box, etc. Can anyone please advise?

Hi Graham,

Thanks for the post - a little background here: we released new builds yesterday and these contain a new protection subsystem that, for licensed users, requires an upgraded key. If you are a licensed user, I would suggest taking a look at this KB article:

As for the product that you need, it sounds like you just need either the Viewer, or the Editor. You should be fine to use the Viewer in Trial Mode, so I would recommend just going through the Viewer installer and selecting the option to install the Free Version. If you find that you need more than just the Free Features and don't want the watermark, you can always purchase a license at a later date.

If your about screen says the Viewer - then it is indeed the Viewer and not the Editor you are using - because for sure the Editor does say 'Editor' in the about screen.

The functions you mention are available in the Editor which includes PDF-XChange Lite as part of the bundle.

Thanks, Will and John.

I've installed the free version of Viewer (version 2.5, build 308.0), and I'm still having the same problem as before: the stamps palette always shows the 'BSI - blue' set of stamps, regardless of which boxes I tick or untick. Can anyone please help?

Is it possible to get a copy of the stamp collection? If so, you can find it under C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Tracker Software\PDFXViewer\2.0\Stamps - please upload the PDF here, or send it to support@pdf-xchange.com, with a link back to this forum.

Hi Graham,

Thanks for sending those - I'll reply to the email as well as this, but I'm not able to reproduce the issue, even when using your stamp collections (see attached). It's strange - I would recommend first deleting the stamp collections from the Viewer's %AppData% folder, then pasting in the one's that I've sent and see if that helps.

Failing that, please try uninstalling, deleting the stamp collections and re-installing.
