Bookmarks going to next page

Post by chrismaltba »

Lately, we've been getting files from other organizations that are having an odd bookmark issue. Whenever you click on a bookmark, it takes you to the next page instead of the page the bookmark is intended for.

I've opened the same document in acrobat and the bookmarks operate normally. Has anyone seen this issue before?

I've attached a sample file. It's occurring in the most current release of Xchange Viewer.

Hi chrismaltba,

Thanks for the post and sample - I've tested here and this appears to work fine for me. I know that you said you are using the latest release, but could you please double check by going to Help --> About and sending a screen-shot of what you see?

it should say; 'X'.5.308.2 issued June 19th ...

Cheers,

I'm on version 2.5 build 308.1, checking for updates doesn't offer anything newer.

I've attached a screenshot. In this example, I've click on bookmark M-101, it has a grey box around it, but then it jumps to page M-102 which has a yellow box around it in the bookmark bar.

This happens for every page (it jumps to the next one,) except the last page, since there is no next page to go to.

Hi chrismaltba,

Was that PDF file created from e.g. PowerPoint? PowerPoint and some other applications create the bookmarks pointing to the lower left corner of the page. So when you click it - this is what is displayed at the top of the PDF Viewing area - and then follows the next page. So it seems as if the bookmark is pointing to the incorrect one.
If you switch to single page (non continuous) mode - your bookmarks will take you to the right page.
This is not a bug in our products but how some applications create bookmarks, and we and others are handlign them the same way if continuous page mode is selected.

Regards,
Stefan

Yeah, I see that there is a sliver of the previous page when clicking on a bookmark. Thanks for explaining that for us. We'll use single page view in these circumstances.
