Product key doesn´t work anymore ...

I own this product key:
Product Name: PDF-XChange PRO 5.0.266 Single User License

After recent upgrading to the most recent version of the editor this key is not accepted anymore.

What do I have done wrong?

Hi Env,

Thanks for the post - with Version 5.5 we moved to a new serial key format. If you are using a Version 5 key, this will not work and requires an upgrade. See here for detailed instructions:

On starting the editor I now asked for upgrade and I now got a product key which is stored in the editor including "remaining 99 days for software support", for which I didn´t have to pay anything.

What does this mean?

What happens after these 99 days?

Great!

Regarding the product maintenance, one year comes free with every license and is to cover upgrades. Once your maintenance runs out, you will no longer be entitled to free upgrades. It always works out cheaper to keep your maintenance current and active than to pay the upgrade fees.

Ah, Ok. Now I understand the procedure.

To be sure I now took the longest available period (2 years).

Btw: There is a problem with Ctrl + F for searching within a PDF-Document. Normally I should be possible to make the small search window disappear by hitting ESC after a search by Ctrl + F but this doesn´t work anymore in the editor. Is there any reason for this?
