Comment Styles Palette?

Version 5.5.309.0 - I cannot get Comment Styles Palette to appear. I've tried View, Other Panes, Comment Styles Palette and Comments, Comment Styles Palette with all different windows configurations and nothing appears. Am I missing something or is this a bug?

Hi Bruce,

thanks for the post. It should be working, I just tested it in 309 and it is for me. The first order of business is to uninstall and re-install the Editor making sure to re-install with a freshly downloaded installer from our downloads page. It should not be possible for the Comment Styles Palette to be behind the main Editor window so if you can see the Editor you should see the Comment Styles Palette on top.

Let me know how that goes?

No dice, Paul, sorry. Two machines, work PC desktop with Windows 7 and home laptop with Windows 8.1. Did a COMPLETE uninstall on the laptop, down to scrubbing out the user profile roaming folder and using CCleaner in between uninstall and reinstall. I even purchased a maintenance extension and used the new serial key to see if that was it.

No Comment Styles Palette.

But no big deal either. If it's working on your end, I am not going to convince you that something is wrong. Especially if I don't see any other mention of it in this forum. Let it go.

I am enjoying this program too much to let it bother me. What an improvement over Adobe Acrobat. What a pleasure. Thanks.

Hi Bruce,

Did you try to use the View -> Toolbars -> Customize Toolbars... -> Reset All button?

The Comments Styles Palette can be floating (by default) or docked with some other panes - so make sure you've not docked it somewhere and not seeing it now. On the attached image I've docked it along with the Advanced Search Pane.

Yes, I did that, no change. I just wish I could lend you my laptop or desktop so that you can see the problem for yourselves.

This question may sound impertinent and if it does, I apologize, but here it is: Did you guys think of downloading your own installer file and doing a fresh install for yourselves? Maybe this is not a problem on the version that you have loaded on your computers but it exists in the latest installer file?

The only reason that I am sticking to this is, it's the same thing on both of my computers. If the palette were stuck someplace, wouldn't it be difficult to replicate the issue on two different computers and two different operating systems (Windows 7/8)?

Hi Bruce,

The issue you have described on both your PCs might be caused by a third party app such as CC cleaner, or an antivirus software. If CC cleaner is running, it might be removing necessary registry entries for the comment styles window. If you feel comfortable, we could arrange a remote session. Please see this KB if you are interested in participating in a remote session:

My apologies if I seem unfamiliar with the ins and outs of CC cleaner. In my experience, it causes more trouble than it is worth.
