Area Tool - Pop Up Note (Display Area and Perimeter)

Using the measuring AREA Tool in PDF-Xchange a lot as a Waterproofing estimator. I am required to report both area and perimeter to cost materials for a job.

When I measure the area I visually note that while measuring, the Area Info box (default lower right part of screen) provides live measurement updates of Distance, Perimeter, Area, Angle, ChangeX and Scale. When I complete a shape (double click on last point of shape) only the Area (sqm in my case) is shown in the Pop Up Note and Area Info Box.

I've been through the system preferences and can not find an option for PDF X-Change to automatically display both area AND perimeter details of the shape I just measured. I do not wish to use the Perimeter Tool separately and in addition to the Area Tool.

Am I missing something? Is it something that can be done?

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the post - the Editor will display the properties (in this case, the measurements) of the currently active (selected) annotation, so only the Perimeter or Area can be displayed at once.

Oh, that's disappointing. Would this be something you see implementing as an option in the future? A lot of construction professionals use your software and I think having the option to display both in the pop-up note would be such a time saver!

Would be good to get your feedback on this.

Hi Michael,

Please do try the Editor - and make sure you have the latest build. Once an "Area" measurement is completed - you will see in the pop-up in the lower right corner the Perimeter and area of the shape (as well as the scale at which those were calculated).

Thanks Stefan your responses have been very quick! - I use the Editor version. I did mentioned your above post in my original post. Hoevere, I require BOTH the AREA and PERIMETER documented in the pop-up / area information note once the area shape has been completed (Not just the AREA as it currently does) so my superiors can track a job's estimation.

I currently manually note the Perimeter before completing the area then I type it in once the area shape has been completed and the pop-up / area information note is created ... very time consuming.

Can you please advise if you plan to add this option I need of automatically documenting the AREA and PERIMETER in the automatic pop-up note area once the area shape has been completed in future versions. Or am I best look to other software out there who already does that?

Please do make sure you have the latest build - as in it I can see both (in the lower right corner) - as on the attached picture.

If it is something else that you have in mind - can you please show me with a screenshot what you want to be achieved?

This is the [RED] box I was talking about that I would like both the Area and Perimeter displayed (See attached image).
My workflow is that I estimate areas (including perimeters) for a job and complete a quote. My boss checks the quote and the marked plans by clicking each area shape I make and check the area and perimeter of each against the quote I make.

As these were not implemented in older releases of the Editor.

Or, are you looking to have both the Area measurement and perimeter measurement both automatically populate the sticky note, when double clicking the annotation?

Correct, as I've said, I require both the area and perimeter to be noted/populated/displayed automatically in the sticky note when double clicking the shape/annotation after it's been completed as my superiors need to check both measurements when going over my measurement work on the odd before sending out quotes.
