renaming measurements
I've sampled viewer and found it lacking in a few areas I require.
Editor seems to have more of what I'm after.
I'm very close to buying!
In measurement, in Viewer, I was limited to 2 renamed categories/subjects.
In Editor, this seems to be unlimited.
Is this correct?
In the free version of Viewer the renamed subject shows.
In the free version of Editor it does not..
Example: In he comments list it shows; Line/Adim vs. Line/baseboard
In the purchased version will it show as I renamed it?
Also, in the purchased version, do I have the option of showing the name and dimension 'on that line'?

Re: renaming measurements
There is no difference between the free versions or purchased versions of the viewer or editor. Except, the free version will add watermarks to your PDF files if you use any of the Pro features. You will see a warning if you try to do this.

Re: renaming measurements
Then why does it not show as I renamed it?
Let's use the line measurement tool as the example.
I right click on the line tool and open the 'Comment styles palate', click on 'Current style', clone it, rename it 'baseboard'.
Correct?
Now in the 'Comments List' shouldn't it show 'Dimension line- baseboard'?
What step did I miss?

Re: renaming measurements
I have found the difference between Viewer and Editor that is my issue.
And it surprises me that Editor Pro will not do what Viewer does.
Viewer allows me to use a 'custom' subject and save each independently.
Editor does not seem to... or I haven't found the way to do so yet..

Re: renaming measurements
Just to clarify:
Apart from the adding of watermarks.
There are obviously many differences between the Viewer and the Editor. Not all features in the Viewer are implemented in the Editor. It's a new product, designed from the ground-up, and has already been through many versions. More features from the Viewer will be added in time.

Re: renaming measurements
I am not an expert on using this feature, but I think you may have confused the Line style with the Dimension Line style.
I was able to clone the dimension line style and create more styles with different line endings, and set any style as the default for dimension lines — butt endings, reversed arrows, or the default with arrow line-endings.
The feature that you want seems to be implemented, but the comments pane shows all of them as just "Dimension Lines."

Re: renaming measurements
Hi Robert,
you can change the subject of both the line tool objects and distance tool objects. Use the Properties Panel to change this for any given object.
I think that is what you are looking for?

I'm able to do this in Viewer, just not Editor..
Pro version (Editor) seemed to have taken past and moved forward, but they seem to have left a few things behind.
Not the version I want... or need..
Shame on me, because I thought Editor would have everything viewer did and more..

Editor claims to have all the features of viewer plus more.Paul - Tracker Supp wrote:Hi Robert,

This interested me me until I found it doesn't.
They've left some simplicity of viewer out of Editor.
Viewer seems to be the product for me until Editor catches up.
Very good product here.
Just don't lose what you have in the process of improvement.
I feel many features in Editor are useful, but not at the loss of what I have in Viewer.

Viewer seems to be my product.
Editor has some features I'd like to use.
I thought Editor carried it forward...
My bad.

Re: renaming measurements
Hi Robert,
We're aiming for build 312 (next release) of the Editor to be the one that brings back most (if not all) of the few remaining features. Could you share what, specifically, you have noticed missing to see if we've missed anything?
Cheers,

Re: renaming measurements
I am also having issues with the custom naming of the comments. I can't get any of the custom subjects that I type in to stick. I am running 312.1 on windows 8.1. Is it my system?

Re: renaming measurements
Hello Boise12345,
Can you please show us a screenshot of the Editor showing where you are trying to update those?
Regards,
Stefan

Re: renaming measurements
Hi Stefan,
Thank you for responding!
The comment styles palette is where I tried to rename a custom style for the perimeter tool. I pick the "custom" subject kind and then type in the desired name for the subject but none of the custom subjects I type in will show up in my comments column and therefore are not groupable by subject.
Screenshot attached.
Please advise.
Thanks.

Re: renaming measurements
Hi Boise12345,
Indeed it seems not to be working properly. I've created a ticket so that this can be fixed:
#2995: Editor 312.1 - Custom annotation subjects not working.
I assumed it will be working - as there was a similar fix recently (for the subjects of stamps), but apparently the two things are separate and we will see to resolve this one as well.
Regards,
Stefan
