Hi there,
I was playing with a new version of a stamp and since I did not need the older version, hit the 'Delete' button. what I have managed to do, it deleted whatever folder, holds the stamps that I have created, leaving only the program default stamps.
I have tried to 'undelete' using one of the various programs, and all I can find is a file-name with a long alpha-numerical number.pdf. When restored it to the correct folder (D&S/UserName/AppData/Tracker/etc) my created stamps are nowhere to be seen when opening PDF X-Change Viewer.
Is there a way to undelete my stamps and if so, how?
Thanks
Rex

Re: Undelete Stamps
Hi Rex,
Thanks for the post - the PDF with the alpha-numeric name should be the stamp collection. Please make sure that it is copied under C:\Users\Will Desktop\AppData\Roaming\Tracker Software\PDF-XChange Viewer\2.0\Stamps . Please note that the Stamps folder name is case sensitive, so it must have a capital 'S'.
HTH!

Re: Undelete Stamps
Wow! Thanks for the fast reply.
Having 'undeleted' the file, I copied it to the Stamps folder, but when I start PDF X-Change Viewer, my user created stamps are not there.
As an aside, why is this file xxxxxx123xxxwhatever, a pdf file? As a pdf file, I would have thought the program would open it, but I only receive an error message. So I would imagine that although it may have my stamps, it is not actually a pdf file. Can I rename it so the the program will see it?
I should advise that I am using XP
Thanks
Rex

Re: Undelete Stamps
Hi Rex,
Can you send a screen-shot of the error message that you're seeing?
Stamps collections are a PDF file with a special 'flag' within them, so the Viewer should be able to open them. However, I suspect the error message is an error that the document is broken or damaged, which would explain why the Viewer cannot open the file, and why the stamp collection is not present.
Thanks,

Re: Undelete Stamps
Will,
Thanks for your reply and explanation. I would like to attach a screenshot of the error message but your forum does not allow *.jpg attachments!
Anyway, I have managed to resolve the issue with only the loss of a few stamps. The problem lies with virtually all the 'undelete' software available . And this is not the first time. The file is question was not in the recycle bin, from where restoring is easy and works. In the past, when I have done some undelete tests, the recovered file is usually unreadable, whether a doc, jpg, pdf or whatever. And this was the case thsi time.
Fortunately, I regularly take images of my HD and one form a month ago saved me. I mounted the most recent image, then copied and pasted the lost file. Worked well and only lost a couple of stamps for which I still have the original images, so was easily able to recreate.
Thanks for your advice,
Rex

Re: Undelete Stamps
Hi Rex,
We've had some bots post not too decent images in the past - that's why directly uploading a .jpg is not possible. In the future add these images in archives (zip/rar/7z) - and the archive will attach correctly.
And backups are always nice! Glad to hear you managed to recover the stamps relatively easy!
Regards,
Stefan
