My "typewriter" comments (but _not_ annotations using other tools such as stamps, call-outs and text-boxes) all disappeared when I saved, closed and reopened. Their ghosts live on in the pane listing comments, and if I click there and again on the page they reappear ... until I next save, exit and reload.
Have I put my documentd and/or (the free version) of XChange-Viewer into a non-standard mode?

Re: Lost "typewriter" comments
Hello ags8b,
Thank you for the post and welcome to our forums. Could you please go to Help-->About and tell me which version and build you are running?
Could you please also post the file here?
You have posted this to the Viewer forum. If you are indeed using the Viewer, please do try the Editor. You can install it here: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDFXVE5.zip
The Editor replaced the Viewer in 2013, and is far more advanced.
Cheers!

Hi ags8b,
That's fully understandable. If you prefer, you are welcome to send the file in an email containing a link back to this topic to support@pdf-xchange.com.
Do please also try the Editor and let us know if the issue is still there. Please note that the Viewer and Editor CAN be installed side-by-side without complications.
Cheers!

Re: Lost "typewriter" comments
My student is willing for me to use her file and I have just emailed it up, as you suggested.
I had commented 20 of her pages before noticing the issue but before asking advice here I had redone the first 10 pages avoiding the "typewriter" tool.
So phantom comments remain on pages 11 - 20.

Hi ags8b,
As per my email:
As per my email:
Thanks,Hi Anthony,
Thanks for the sample - I'm not having any issues with this document here. I'm afraid that there isn't really anything that we can do to help, as because the comments have already disappeared and we cannot reproduce the issue, there isn't any record of anything for us to look into. As far as we are able to see, if looks as if there were never any typewriter comments placed on the document. That's not to say that we doubt your assertion, it just means that there isn't anything for us to look for.
If you can provide step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce the problem, then we may be able to help further, we just need to be able to reproduce it.
