Hello,
I have a problem with a wrong displayed document in Editor (latest version installed) that is shown fine in Viewer (see attached picture - the upper page is correct shown in Viewer - the wrong on buttom in Editor). Only a small part of the too transparent rectangles in Editor ist shown correctly on the buttom left side.
I have played with all setting and searched for help on your forum but nothing helped.
I can send you the compete pdf if needed.
Thanks for your help and Kind Regards,
pertis10

Thank you for the post. Do please post a copy of the actual pdf so we can test the issue here.
Thanks!

Re: Display / rendering error
Thanks for your help. But your forum won't let me: Entitiy too large. Its 12 MB with 19 Pages and even if I delete all but one page its still 8,6 MB and still too large. Please tell me how I can send you the document.
Or you can download it here:
http://store.steampowered.com/manual/375910
its the german manual of "Anno 2205".
I would like to include my settings in case its a problem on my Editor but again your forum won't let me: "The extension xcs is not allowed".

Re: Display / rendering error
Hello pertis10,
Thanks - the link to the file is sufficient. This resolved to the English version of the manual for me, but in any case - the issue was still there and reproducible.
I have created a ticket in our internal system:
#3300: Editor 315: Image with softmask not shown properly.
So that we can track and fix this issue in a timely manner. We have your e-mail and the forum topic inside the ticket so as soon as there are any news - we will let you know.
As for attachments - there is a 5MB limit per file, and also the files can be either .pdf or an archive (.zip/.7z/.rar) - we placed the second restriction (on types of files allowed) because in the past we have had quite some "not so decent" images posted by spam engines.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: Display / rendering error
Hello Stefan,
thank you for your help and I understand that this limits are necessary.
But when you have still have the pdf maybe you could help me understand, why I wasn't able to shrink the file much at all. Its 19 pages and has an original size of 12 MB. I first deleted half the pages and had still 10,8 MB deleted another 4 pages and had still 10,2 MB. Then I deleted all pages except page 2 I made the screenshots in my fist post and saved as optimized copy: Still 8,6 MB.
Why is the file size still so high and the saved file size so little, even that I deleted 95% of the document?
Can you take a look? Thanks again and Regards,
Pertis10

Re: Display / rendering error
Hello pertis10,
The reason why this file does not decrease in size linearly with the decrease of the number of pages is because all these pages have the same backround. The PDF format allows you to embed an image once and then reuse it multiple times on multiple pages, and this actually creates a more compact file than having to store the image for each individual page and making multiple copies of the same. But when you start removing pages - the file size decreases with just a few KB - as the only thing removed from the file is the text for that particular page - the image remains there to be used by the other pages.
Attached is a snapshot of the thumbnails pane for your file - where you can clearly see it's one and the same image on all pages (so the bug that the soft mask is not showing is actually helping us see this
).

Stefan

Re: Display / rendering error
Hello Stefan,
ah, okay. Thanks for your time explaining this. Its always great to learn something new! This puzzled me quite some time because I often want to keep only a small part of a pdf but most of the time there is not the expected reduction in filesize.
Thanks again and all the best.
