Hello,
I use PDF-XChange Viewer 2.5 (Built 191.0) on a Windows XP PC. Is it possible, to configure the Viewer so that no locally-installed fonts are used or shown, but only the fonts which are embedded in the pdf-file?
Thanks in advance
Juergen

Re: System fonts
Hello Juergen,
Provided the font is embedded - the embedded version should be used.
System fonts are only used when the PDF specifies e.g. "this text should use Arial" and Arial is not embedded in the document.
If you see weird results in a particular file it is most probably because a font is not embedded, and the one used for substitution on your machine is slightly different (there are fonts with similar names, and looks but not exactly matching) - or completely different from what you were expecting - when no close substitute is found for the font that needs to be used.
Best,
Stefan

Re: System fonts
Hello Stefan,
thanks for your quick response. Well, the reason for my question is the following: When I get a pdf-file and want to check directly whether all fonts are embedded, it would be easy to see this just when I open the file, independent if the font is on my system or not. To view the document with the XChange-Viewer, only this fonts should be used which are embedded in the file. But of course, I can also take a look into the properties of the document.
Best regards
Juergen

Re: System fonts
Hello Juergen,
I am afraid that there is no way to do that, as if a given font is not embedded - we need to find it on the system, or substitute it. The other option is to leave the area blank - which you would agree is not quite what most people would expect.
So I am afraid you will need to check the document properties as the only solution.
Best,
Stefan
