Cannot use scanner to make new pdf

Post by Keith Seddon »

When using PDF-XChange Viewer PRO 2.5.190.0 with Win 7:

I want to make a pdf using my scanner on which I place my source document.

But when I click File/New Document/From Scanner my scanner is not listed.

The scanner IS installed, and works with other software.

Hello Keith Seddon,

The most common reason is that your Win7 is a 64 bit version and we have also installed a native x64 version of our Viewer, but your scanner drivers are 32 bit only.
The two options to resolve this are:
1. Find 64 bit scanner drivers
This would need to come from the scanner manufacturer. Generic drivers are often 32 but but you need genuine 64 bit scanner drivers for this to work.

2. Use the Portable version
As a work around you can run the portable version of the Viewer. There is a knowledge base article here describing the differences between the 2 versions and you can download the portable version here. It will work with your current serial, and will recognize your currently installed scanner drivers.

Best,
Stefan
