Why does the Viewer think Find is different from Search?
Not that it matters much -- Find doesn't work, no matter how I try to invoke it: CTRL+F, or Edit>Find.

Is there any text in the document to find? Some PDF files are just scanned images, others are encrypted.
I don't get your point about find and search. PDF-XChange uses the same wording here as Adobe Reader. Ctrl F is Find text in the current document. The full panel search has options to search across multiple documents. Windows Explorer also calls this "search" not "find."

Re: Why does the Viewer think Find is different from Search?
Thank you for the reply, but I work with Acrobat all day long and know about scanned vs. distilled and search vs. find. Let me rephrase my question. In my installation of PDF-Xchange Viewer, Fnd doesn't work, only Search. Pressing CTRL+F does absolutely nothing. The F3 key, Find Next, doesn't work either. However, the Search function (CTRL+SHIFT+F) does work. Therefore, PDF-Xchange viewer must be making a distinction between Find and Search. If PDF-Xchange Viewer thinks that Search is just an extended version of Find, as it is in Adobe Reader, then how come Search works but Find doesn't?

It sounds like something is broken in your setup.
- Right-click on any toolbar, and selection Customise
- Select the Command tab of the Customise dialogue
- Select the Edit Menu category
- Scroll down the list of available commands to "Find"
- Select "Properties."
- Click on the shortcut field. If its empty, click the Reset arrow next to it to reset the Ctrl F shortcut
- OK to accept the changes

Thanks Bhikkhu,
I agree vesicant that there must be some change in your setting that has caused this. By default CTRL+F and F3 are set to use simple search and also move to the next found item. Of course these keyboard shortcuts are highly customizable and it may be that the shortcuts have been explicitly changed. https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowled ... r-commands
I tested this by resetting my bindings to default and it all worked as expected.

Re: Why does the Viewer think Find is different from Search?
I ran into this problem again, with Ctrl F not working, and I think I may have found a bug that is causing this. In my setup Ctrl F is defined for Find in the Edit Context.
If I try to assign Ctrl F to another command such as the Find toolbar, a conflict is shown with [Document]\Find. So, I leave this command undefined.

However, there is no shortcut defined for Find in the Document context:

The Find command is found in the Edit Context.

Recipe that I need to use to encounter the bug:
- Hide the (floating) Find Toolbar
- Exit and restart PDF-XChange
- Press Ctrl F (doesn't work)
- Open and close the customise dialogue without doing anything
- Ctrl F now works
- If the find toolbar is not closed, but left floating, Ctrl F always works.
