Undo for comment editing

Post by bob_sun »

Hello,

I know there is Undo/Redo function. However, for comment editing actions such as drawing a line/rectangle, highlighting or underlining some text, is there a way to redo/undo them? Does the software maintains such a comment editing history stack (from development perspective)?

Hello Bob,

The end user Viewer does allow you to undo/redo underlines, typewriter texts etc, and I presume that the Viewer AX SDK will do the same.

Dear Stefan,

I found my "undo, redo, cut, copy" command under Edit menu are all in gray and cannot be used. Why could it be like this?

Hello Bob,

Those commands are only usable in the current session, so if you saved the document, closed it and then opened it again - I am afraid you will not be able to use undo/redo commands.

The other thing is that you might be using an older build of our Viewer. The current latest one is 2.5.193 (with build 194 being released later today), so please check in Help -> About which build you are using, and if not the latest you can download the installation file from here:

Dear Stefan,

Every time I am opening a new file I always see these commands unavailable. So what do you mean "in the current session"?

Hello Bob,

This means that you will have the command active only after you have opened the file and made modifications in this "work session", so only changes that you have done since you last opened the file could be undone/redone.

Dear Stefan,

But after having made changes, I still find these commands to be unavailable, either by from the top command menu or from shortcuts. Why this happens and how to solve this?

Hi Bob,

The comment you are making changes to must have the focus, for the Undo/Redo to enable. So Click the comment and the undo redo options for the comments should now be available.

I've just tested it.

Best,
Chris
