Let the "highlight text" stripe be 2 x 1 pixel higher?

Post by mattad »

I appreciate the "highlight text" tool.
However I would like to have it a bit more higher.

How can I append 1 more pixel (line) at the top and 1 more pixel (line) at the bottom of the stripe?

This way the marked text is more readable. Otherwise horizontal font letter lines e.g. like the lower line of the capital "L" is too close to the stripe boundary and difficult to read.

The best would be to let the user define the additional pixels depending from the line spacing.
If there is much space between the lines then the number of additional pixels could be even 2 or more.

If this is all currently not possible:

Could you include such an option in the next release?

Hello Matt,

I am afraid that this will never be possible, as we are calculating the height of the highlight based on the font info, and the font boundaries as described there. While there might be bigger or smaller line spacing - this is not something included in the font info itself - and the Viewer can not know if there is more or less space, so we need to constrain the highlight in what we know is the maximum height a character could occupy, and this is the only proper way to do it.

Best,
Stefan

Ok, forget about the line space depending feature.

But you could introduce an option/checkbox offering the user to add a fix 1 more pixel.

That would be easy to implement.

Hi Matt,

I will have a word with the devs but please note that we are currently stalling all feature requests as we are trying to finalize the first build of ver3 of the Viewer, and for this the guys need all their attention to be focused on that task.

And please note that this is not a promise that we will implement this but just a promise that I will have a word with them.

Best,
Stefan

The size of the text highlight is based on font metrics and therefore restricted by this parameter ...
