When I change the printer name in the Print dialog the Collate checkbox gets unchecked.
- This only happens the first time the print dialog is opened since the start of the application.
- After the first time it will work properly and the checkbox remains checked
- If you change the "Copies" to more then 1, it will work, even the first time.
My users usually first select a printer, and then the amount of copies they want. They don't notice the Collate button has been unchecked automatically and then get a unpleasant surprise when they arrive at the printer and their stack of paper hasn't been collated.
The workaround is to manually tick the Collate button, but this is sometimes forgotten.
The users are printing multi-page PDF files to different network printers. We're using version 2.5 build 195.0
Is this a bug or is there some way to force it to stay checked?

Re: Printing - Collate checkbox gets unchecked automatically
Hey ToGu1,
I think your challenge is due to the fact that the PDF print driver does not offer the option to collate as it is irrelevant for PDF creation. So when you switch to the print driver the option is removed and then that setting is persistant when you switch back to your printer.
I can see how that is frustrating and annoying but unfortuately I can't see any way to resolve it other than manually rechecking the collate box.
Sorry we don't have a better solution, but let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

Re: Printing - Collate checkbox gets unchecked automatically
Some extra information...
- It happens with all printers that we have, network and local.
- Also, the checkbox doesn't get disabled, only unchecked.
- The printer drivers support collating.
- After printing with Collate checked the first time, when opening the print dialog again the checkbox remains checked.
It will stay checked as expected, even when changing printers.
Is this "weird" behaviour intentional and not a bug? Will it be fixed/changed in other versions?
To me it feels like the checkbox is broken because it forgets my settings under certain conditions.

Re: Printing - Collate checkbox gets unchecked automatically
Hey ToGu1,
I am sorry if I wasn't clear. I do appreciate your patience with me as I bet this is frustrating. Now if you take a look at the collate checkbox when you have the PDF printer enabled you will notice that it is greyed out. This is what I meant about the option being "removed". Now since Windows likes to have persistant settings, when you switch back it remembers the non active setting from the PDF print driver. Now if we had a collate option that was active in the PDF print driver then it would pass that value back and forth but since it isn't a active feature when you go back to your printer the check will be gone. Nothing wierd about this behaviour just windows trying the best it can to be consistent.
I hope this makes things clearer but please don't hesitate to ask more questions. I will do my humble best to answer.
Thanks

Re: Printing - Collate checkbox gets unchecked automatically
I know this is an old post, but I'm having the same issue. The collate checkbox won't remain checked. All the other print settings does, but not the collate box. It is not disabled as the OP said, but I did not change the name of the printer as well. The printer is a HP P1102w Toner printer.

Hi again tyw7,
see the other post you made asking the same question. https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... 35&t=13043
Making multiple posts for the same thing won't get you an answer any faster.
