PDF file printed as bitmap

Hi to all, I am using the PDF-XChange Viewer to print a pdf on your PDF-XChange printer to obtain a PDF/A 1b file.
We have several files as the included one that after the print become bigger and the text part is lost - I suppose that the produced pdf was rendered as bitmap for each page because text is no more selectable and file size is bigger.
Same files printed with Adobe Reader 8 on same printer with same settings are instead well generated - text continue to be text and the file size is lighter.

This is a problem for our clients that must upload on a government site bigger PDF/A files that sometimes never get uploaded because of their large size.

Hello Carlo,

It didn't print as bitmap for me, but as there was limited font information in the file I presume our printing drivers converted all text to curves - and this is what caused the increase in file size - I will ask one of our devs to take a look at this and see if we can advise anything further.

This file is printed not as a bitmap, but text is printed as curves because the embedded Type1 font is used, and the current version of the viewer cannot generate temporary font (needed during printing) from Type1 embedded fonts.

So, if I print same file of 11.000 bytes with Acrobat Reader 8 I get a file of 34.000 bytes; if I print a file of 157.000 bytes I get a file of 210.000 bytes with Acrobat 8 and 7.500.000 bytes with PDF-XChange Viewer: this is a big problem for us and our clients that have an upload size limit regarding pdfs.

Can you give ma a hint on how circumvent this problem, for example creating a temp pdf with fonts not embedded (apart that I have no idea on how to do this) ?
Will new version of PDF-XChange Viewer resolve this problem and, if yes, what is the release estimate time ?

Hello Carlo,

I am afraid that we can not do much improvements before ver3 of our Viewer, so for the time being such files would be printed bigger through our Viewer than through Adobe. Sorry for that.
