Documents cannot display correctly

Post by kunpin »

Hi,

The attached PDF file cannot be displayed correctly in PDF-XChange Viewer (ver. 2.5 build 197) on my machine (Win 7 64bit) but can be displayed in TeXworks and Acrobat Reader.
Please check this. Thanks. The two attached figures are part of the page 2 of the PDF file in PDF-XChange Viewer and TeXworks, respectively.

Hello KunPin,

And thank you for reporting this problem.
We are aware of a problem with some files containing double byte and multi-byte characters, and as such have created a ticket for the guys in our dev team:
#701: Double-Byte and Multi-Byte characters
So that they can schedulle this for investigation. We hope to have this resolved in ver3 of our Viewer expected later this year, and we will post in this topic once again when the ticket is resolved.

Best,
Stefan

Here's another example for a "non-standard" result when the pdf xchange viewer displays a pdf file.No streets get rendered on this map...

Hello Puffolino,

Your sample renders the same for me in my Adobe Reader and in our Viewer (see the attached file) - so maybe you are using an older build of the Viewer. Please check that in Help -> About - and you should see the build number. The current latest is 2.5.197, and can be downloaded from here: www.tracker-software.com/PDFXVwer.zip

Also I believe that your problem is not related to the one described in ticket 701 - which affects pafticular multi byte characters and mostly the text in East-Asian Languages documents.

Best,
Stefan

Here's a screenshot showing the difference between the PDFX and other readers I tried...

Hello Puffolino,

Please press Ctrl + 5 simultaneously - this should toggle the line widths back to normal (you have them switched to single pixel width) - and this should allow you to see the streets properly.

Had the same problem again and didn't remember the shortcut, fine that I could easily find it in he forum
But now two other questions came in mind:
- is there a menu to do the same as Ctrl+5?
- is there a list of shortcuts (and functions) available somewhere which includes Ctrl+5? (maybe such a list could be added to the help file)

Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,

Right Click the Toolbar area and then go to Customize Toolbars -> Commands, and you will see a list of all Viewer/Editor commands and the corresponding shortcut keys. The below KB article should help further:
How do I create custom short cut keys for tool bar commands?

Stefan
