Digital Signatures - Compatibility?

We're looking at the whole way we do PDFs within our organisation.

Part of this is the software we use (hence we've purchases several PDF-XChange Pro licenses to test), and part of it is how we secure the documents.

Can anyone give me their experiences of using digital signatures with XChange?

Presumably whilst you appear to be able to sign documents with most personal certificates, if you want to be sure your external recipients trust the document(s) you need to use a true Adobe CDS certificate (on the basis that most places use Adobe Acrobat so rightly or wrongly it's best to stick to being compatible with it).

How does it work if you have several people in a business who need to sign a document in turn? If Tom signs, when Dick signs will it complain that the document has been modified since Tom signed it, and similarly when Harry signs will it complain that it's been modified since Dick signed it?

It's not an area I've much experience of so any info would be great.

Oh, and what is the "time server" in the signing dialogue?

We've been discussing this over e-mails, and I believe I answered you as much as I could about the certificates.

I am not sure whether these CDS certificates are Adobe Specific, and the person that is best suited to answer about Digital Signatures and certificates is currently not available, so I could double check that with him only a bit later this week.

If more than one person signs the same file the document is saved with "incremental saving" - so each signature remains valid for it's version of the file, and each new one does not break the old ones - older signatures will show up as "Valid but the file has been modified after signing".

Time Servers are third party trusted providers who can guarantee that a document existed before a given moment in the past:

Hello,

we have the same Problem here, that with each signatuer on the document, older signatures will show up as "Valid but the file has been modified after signing". Is it possible to hide this message/ToolTip or disable the Validation of the Signature?

Welcome to our forums.
Please make sure you have build 311 of the Editor, and then go to Edit -> Preferences -> Signatures and click the "More..." button in the Verification section - you can turn the initial verification on and off from there.
