Pen tracking offset

Post by CajunAzn »

Hi I'm using the latest version of PDF-XChange Viewer 2.5.197 on my Tablet PC with Wacom digitizer (Asus EP121). I am experiencing aproblem with cursor being misaligned with the pen tip.
  • When I open a pdf file, the pen tracking gets offset so the cursor no longer lines up with the pen tip.
  • The offset is to the top-right in landscape mode, and to the bottom-right in portrait mode.
  • The offset becomes progressively worse as I move the pen tip towards the bottom right corner, but lines up perfectly when the cursor is at the top-left corner. So I believe this is coordinate problem.
  • Touch tracking does not exhibit this problem.
  • If I close all pdf documents, the pen tracking returns to normal.
  • The offset only occurs when PDFX-Change Viwer has focus with a document open.
Ca anyone offer any help on this problem? Has anyone else noticed this on their tablet PCs?

Hi CajunAzn,

thanks for the report. Before I ask my development team to investigate this can I ask you to update to build 199 (released today) and test again. If the issue persists let us know and we'll take a look at this.

Hi CajunAzn,

We have stopped collecting samples for pen challenges on tablets as we will be reworking this funtionality in the next release of our viewer, which is expected towards the end of this year. If you have maintaince on your viewer purchase at the time of release, you will be entitled to this upgrade for free. We are sorry for this response but with the release so near it is unlikely we will put out another build of the present viewer.

Regards,
Jamie Hodge.

I see...well I purchased the PRO version of v2. Does that mean I will be entitled for the upgrade?

Right now, I am using Foxit as a temporary replacement, but as with all the competition, the rendering speed and smoothness is just lacking when compared to PDFX-Viewer.

I am really looking forward to the new release. By the way, I am the same person who wrote the list of tablet-specific suggestions on this thread.

Hopefully some of these made it into version 3!

Hi CajunAzn,

It all depends on if your maintance has expired. Your purchase came with a year of maintaince that entitles you to any new version releases durring that time. You could have renewed your maintaince as well. We email notices when they are about to expire.

Jamie

I am facing the same problem:
I´ve got a Fujitsu Lifebook t901pro.
Everything is working fine.
When opening a pdf in PDF Xchange Pro, there is a dinstinct offset of the pen.
After closing Xchange Pro, everything is working fine again.
A reboot of the system does help sometimes.

Any ideas?

Best regards

Hi Dirk,

I'm not sure I'm reading you right. Are you seeing the offset only in our Viewer or is this evident all across Windows until our Viewer is closed?

it is just in the viewer.
Returning to the desktop (while the viewer is still running in the background) does not show any errors.
Interestingly, the option resesting settings to default in the viewer also solves the problem, but then all my settings are gone...

Hi Dirk,

can you ascertain which settings you changed that precipitated the issue? If you can reproduce it please export the settings when the Viewer displays the issue and post them in a zip file to this thread.

Look here for how to export your settings to file: http://www.docu-track.com/knowledgebase ... -to-a-file
