Insert pdf into MS Word

Post by DougM »

I am using MS Word 2007 and pdf-XChange Viewer v. 2.0.45.0
It appears that pdf's can be inserted into Word using:
Insert -> Object. This works for me if Adobe Reader is the default reader. If PDF-Xchange is the default reader, the pdf comes in as an icon square. The icon is a 'live' link to the pdf document, but I need the actual image inserted into the Word document. Again, this works properly if Adobe is the default reader.
It fails in the same way using VBA as:
Selection.InlineShapes.AddOLEObject
ClassType:="AcroExch.Document.7", _
FileName:=(FolderPath & Finalize.ListBox1.List(i)) _
, LinkToFile:=False, DisplayAsIcon:=False
Can PDF-XChange be configured to work for this?

Hi Doug,

I believe the problem is that Word is not simply referencing a PDF and calling the default Viewer. I believe that that embedded object is Adobe specific and out of our control how it works.
