Hi there!
this it my first post here... so, forgive me if I am unexperienced!
I would like to know whether it is possible to keep the "multiple instances" option on, but to limit one instance for each single pdf.
In other words, when I open a pdf, I would like that XChange detected whether that file is already opened or not: if it is, it should activate the already opened instance, instead of opening a new one. This already happens if the "multiple instances" option is off... however, if "multiple instances" is on, Xchange opens a new instance, regardless whether or not the file I am opening is already opened in another instance.
Well, I guess that's not very clear what I mean... is it? I cannot find a way to explain it properly...
Thanks!
Ricaz

Re: how to block multiple instances of a pdf
Hi Ricaz,
By design the Viewer will not limit the opening of the same document in more than one instance as many users use this method for comparing the same document and to another instance to make changes in. So this would not be something that could be addressed in this version of the Viewer.
Maybe after V3 of the Viewer is released you can send us a feature request to support@pdf-xchange.com and we can put forth the idea to our development team for consideration. But at this time they are focusing on the major release.
best,
Chris

If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Re: how to block multiple instances of a pdf
In the unlikely case anyone has anything like the problem I had, I got round it using Autohotkeys, creating a hotkey which finds out whether there are Xchange Viewer's windows named after the file which the OpenOffice link is supposed to open...

Nice one Ricaz,
is this the tool you used: http://www.autohotkey.com/ ? That might be useful to others who read this.

That's right... it is very good, as far as my judgement can be worth.
You need some time to learn how to work with it, but if you want to fail your phd, as I have been trying to do in the last years, that's a good way to use your time.
