On the export to image dialogue, check that the export mode is set to "Save all pages to a single multi page image file."

I downloaded the zip package and found the tiff file. But it will not open, an error is recorded. I tried to open the file in Photobie, Paint, QuickTime, and IE.

UPDATE:
It does open in Windows Photo Gallery, and there are two pages.
I wonder why it records an error in Photobie and Paint?

Because those programs do not support multipage TIF images.

Do you want two separate images or one multipage TIF?

To get two separate images, change the export mode.

Hi,

The TIFF open as two pages in Windows Photo Gallery. But only the first page is given in Photobie. Since each page is saved as a separate single page image file, should I not need two file names?

Hello anon,

If you use the same settings as on Bhikkhu's screenshot - you should receive two separate TIFF files.

If your PDF file is names e.g. sample - the tiffs will have names sample_01.tiff and sample_02.tiff

Please note the macros in the "File Name" field, and the "Save each page to a separate single page image file" in the "Export Options" field.

Best,
Stefan

Yes,

I have two files. One for page 5, the other for page 6. The original file contained these two pages.

I wonder if selecting some of the macros made a difference?

Hello anon,

Probably the <Page> macro did it.

In any case all is well that ends well.

Hi,

This is probably the wrong place to ask this question, but here goes.

I can now export to tiff.

But if I save the tiff, with or without changes to the file, using Microsoft Imaging, I can't re-open the file.

Has anyone any tips regarding saving.

Thanks

Hello Anon,

Please check the settings for the Till File format in our Viewer - and make sure that the options you have selected are supported by this Microsoft Imaging software.

My "Windows Photo Viewer" opens a 32 bits per pixel tiff - but the Imaging software you have might not be able to.

Best,
Stefan

Hi,

What i mean to say is this. I can form tiffs and they do open on Microsoft Imaging.

But If I add a file which also opens in MI, and then save, then the resulting file will not open.

In addition, If I take a tiff file that opens and make no changes, but simply save, it will not re-open.

Thanks

Hello Anon,

I am not sure I can fully follow you here.
Are you doing all those changes inside our Viewer's export to image window?
Or are you saying that the files created by our Viewer each opens fine in MI, but then when you open those and make some modifications to them (Using MI?) they no longer open in MI?

If this is the case - then I am afraid we can't help - as this is a problem in a third party product, and our own has done it's job properly and created working PDF files, and if what I described above is not the correct procedure - then please do explain to us step-by-step what you are doing, and ideally add screenshots of each step to help us better get into the situation.

Best,
Stefan

Please supply a sample PDF (before exporting) and also a sample TIFF file (zipped) that will not open - without these there is not much more than we can do.

Hi,

Someone has suggested that my problems may be caused by the compression algorithm used when saving as a tiff file.

I note that for some files use Packbits-macintosh RLE.

Can you recommend another of the formats that may allow my files to open in Microsoft Imaging?

Can different compression algorithms be used to form tiff files, or might this cause a problem if they are compiled into a single file for viewing in say Microsoft Imaging?

Thanks.

A

PS. I do not uses a Mac computer, but a pc and run Vista 32bit.

Hello Anon,

Yes - you can use different compression algorithms for TIFF files. You can change that from the Options button next to the file format selector (in the screenshot I have added above in this topic you can see the "Image Saving Options" window - and the compression is the second row in it).

If you use LZW compression - your resulting TIffs should open fine and the file size will be pretty good too!

Thank you,

I'll try LZW.
