Open a second Window of XChange

Post by Al_Bundy »

Hello,

short question; I think its really easy but I don't find a way to do this.

I have 2 monitors and sometimes I want to have 2 windows of PDF XChange viewer. (One per TFT)
I only can make more tabs, but now I want to open 2 different PDF Files on several windows.

How can I open a second window?

I activated in the general menu the entry "Allow Multiple Instances" but how can I use these feature?

Thaks for your help and greetings from germany :)

Hi Al,

It sounds like you already have the solution. You simply have to close the viewer and when you re-open it will have applied your settings change. In this case to allow multiple instances. Once this takes effect PDFs will be opened in separate windows.

Jamie.

Oh, you are right!

Hmm, but that isn't finally that what I exactly wanted.

When I open a few PDF files, all files shall opened in a tab.

Only when I especially want to open a second Window, should open a new window.

Like my webbrowser Opera:
Normally every webpage is opened in a tab, but when I click on a url, I can choose "open in a new tab" or "open in a new window"

Ok, when I view PDF files, there is no url which I choose.

I want the second window additional to the tabs.

Possible example you can do than:
Two windows of PDF XChange Viewer and in every window I can have tabs. You understand? :)

If there is an option for this, it would be:
Open new PDF files in:
New tab
or
New window

Hi Al,

You can have multiple tabs opened in different instances of the viewer. How it works is, if you open a PDF from outside the viewer(I.E. from a url or from your desktop) it will open a new instance. But if you open from inside the viewer(I.E. the file open menu or a link embedded in a PDF), it will open a new tab.

I hope this helps,
Regards,
Jamie.
