Conflict between installed and with manifest loaded viewer
I load the PDFXC viewer plugin in my application using manifest files, without installation and registration of the ActiveX plugin.
It works very well in most cases, except there is another version of PDFXC installed on the system. Then the internet browser crashes, when I start it from my application, navigate to a web page with PDF's and try to view a PDF within it.
I tried it under Windows XP and Vista, with Internet Explorer and Firefox as default browser. The installed PDFXC version is 2.5.199, the version loaded from my application is 2.5.196.
It looks like the PDFXC browser plugin connects to the PDFXCview.exe started by the application, which is the wrong version. But if I start the internet browser from windows desktop, not from my application, it works.

Re: Conflict between installed and with manifest loaded view
Hello jphilipp,
Have you tried if it will work or crash if you also deploy build 199 with your manifest file?
Best,
Stefan

Hi, Jörg.
Please give us this additional info:
- what is your OS - and is it win32 or x64?
- if OS is x64 - what is your app. -win32 or -x64?
- can you provide a simple app. that will allow us to reproduce the problem (please remove any license info) ?
Thanks.

Re: Conflict between installed and with manifest loaded view
Hi Vasyl,
I tried it only under win32 OS: Windows XP SP3 and Vista 32bit SP2. In both cases it crashed.
The zip file with the complete demo application is bigger than your upload limit (5MB), so I must remove the PDFXC viewer files. Please add the files:
PDFXCview.exe
PDFXCviewAx.dll
resource.dat
to the application directory. I used version 2.5.196, but it crashed with 2.5.199 too.
It crashes only, if the PDF-XChange Viewer is installed on the system with activated browser plugin. I have installed version 2.5.199.
After starting the application, click on one of the buttons "Open ..." or on the link in the Demo PDF. The browser is opened with your "Tips & Tricks" page. Click on a PDF document in this web page, e.g. "Tracker Tips & Tricks Newsletter for November 2011". Then the browser crashed.
Best regards,
Jörg
