Open FDF from E-Mail-attachment

Post by Mabi2012 »

Our customer sends back a FDF File. Can I directly open it in PDF-XChange Viewer without saving before?

For example: open the PDF containing the form first, then doubleclick the FDF and get so the PDF filled.

Or: drag the FDF form the E-Mail and drop it on the previously opened PDF form.

One more question: I have a button in my PDF form to submit the FDF Data via E-Mail. In Adobe Reader it works, also in FoxIt. How can I get it work in PDF XChange Viewer (used Version is. 2.5 Build 200.0)?

TIA

Hi Mabi2012,

welcome to the Tracker Forums!

You should be able to do just what you have described, open the PDF and then use
File --> Form Data --> Import Data to Form

Regards the support for the email button - this is generally supported but each case can be different. can you send a sample file for us to look at? If attaching a file please be sure to put it in a zip archive else the forum software will strip your attachment.

Best regards

Hi Paul,

thanks for your answer.

The solution you described only works by first saving the FDF e-mail attachment to any folder and then import it into PDF-XChange Viewer. My question is if it is possible to directly doubleclick the FDF in the e-mail to get it opened in PDF-XChange Viewer (corresponding PDF form might be opened previousliy by hand). I am searching an easy way to avoid saving the FDF attachment first before importing it into the form.

Regarding the e-mail button: see test document in attachment (button is called "senden" in then upper right corner of the document).

TIA

Hi, Mabi2012.

Sorry, this method for importing an FDF into a PDF is impossible currently, but we will add this feature to the new version V3 of viewer. Please wait...

Best
