Need Help Compressing Mass Amounts of PDFs
I have PDF Xchange 4 Pro (updated. just checked) and I would like to compress large PDFs (1-10 MBs) down to at the most, 1 MB. I read that printing to a pdf from a pdf compresses well. So I tried it, and it compressed a 10 MB pdf to roughly a MB. The problem is, I have roughly 1000 PDFs to compress. Is there a way to batch print these files while keeping the same file names? (I would use a different location than the source location so I can keep the same filenames.)

Re: Need Help Compressing Mass Amounts of PDFs
Hi samcar455,
the End User print driver is not really set up to accept large batches like this, mostly because it is a printer and uses the Windows Print subsystem to queue the print jobs. We cannot manage that.
You could select a number of PDF files in Windows Explorer and using the right button context menu select Print --> PDF-XChange and it will queue those files. You would need to either specify a save path in the Driver before hand or select a location for each file. Not really great for 1000+ PDFs I must admit. Also I don't know what the limit would be on how many PDFs you could do at a time this way - that is handled by Windows.
In the future we will be creating a plugin for the PDF-XChange Viewer that will allow you to optimize your PDFs this way - though how that will work with large numbers of files is yet to be determined.

Thanks for the response. And I'll admit a thousand is a bit of an overstatement. But I am talking in the hundreds.
Is there a way to compress the PDFs with PDF Xchange through another method? (Hopefully one that will accept batches).

Hi again samcar455,
at this point we do not have an End User product that will do this other than what I've detailed already. Select a number of files in Explorer and print them to the driver.
