Gap Around Document

Post by fdwdm »

I have a feature request. I want to close the gap between the document and the chrome around the document. My laptop has a very small screen and I would like the document to be as large as possible and not waste any pixels on the unnecessary grey background.

Hello fdwdm,

You can press F12 to switch to full screen mode - and you can then utilize the whole screen area for the document only. If you need you can show some of the toolbars with F8, F9, F10 - and toggle the visibility of all toolbars with F11 - so that you can annotate your file even in full screen mode if needed.

Best,
Stefan

There is still a gap in full screen mode. It would be nice to have an option to close the gap—both in the regular mode and full screen mode.

Hi, fdwdm.

You can uncheck the menu-item:

Hello fdwdm,

Is this the gap between two consecutive pages you are referring to?
This can be toggled via the Main Menu -> View -> Page Layout -> Show Gaps between pages (default shortcut combination Ctrl-Shift-G).

Stefan

I have the gap between pages turned off already. The space I can't get rid of is on the left and right sides of the display.

Hello fdwdm,

Yes there are a few pixels on each side of the document that remain unused when you have selected "Fit Width" - but that's a total of 8 px (5 on the left and 3 on the right) - even on a 800x600 screen this is 1% - which should not be a significant problem. If needed you can manually increase the zoom and that space would be fully utilized.

Please see a screenshot from a full screen view of a document at my end. On it the "fit width" zoom is 241% - if I increase that to 243% - there is no black border left.

Best,
Stefan

Just my opinion, but the borders make the application look bad.

Hello fdwdm,

As explained before - there is a way for you to utilize the whole screen area - and the tiny borders (a total of 8px for both sides) are not in my opinion making our Viewer look bad at all.

There are a myriad of features in our Viewer, and a lot more that need to be implemented! Ver3 of our Viewer is announced for release on 31 May 2012 so respectfully we can not spend the time needed to "fix" this I am afraid.

Best,
Stefan
