close in firefox not working

Post by Gogolo »

Hi

I use the pdf xchange plugin in firefox. When a pdf is open I can't close the tab with ctrl+w. Also when I add the button "close" to the task bar it is greyed out and not working. (I need this function, because I want to control it with autohotkey).

Thanks
Olivier

Hello Oliver,

When the Viewer plug-in has the focus (e.g. when you have scrolled through the opened PDF) - the Viewer will capture all key combinations. And Ctrl-W is used as a "close active document" command in the Viewer - so I am afraid that you can't make this key combination work as "close the FireFox tab".

A workaround is to use Alt-Tab to switch to another application and then Alt-Tab again to return to FireFox - and the Viewer would have lost focus, but it's tab inside FireFox would be the active one and Ctrl-W should close it. (I am an Opera user but this process works fine for me)

Best,
Stefan

Hi Stefan

:D This is a funny but functioning workaround. Thank you very much!
