Collate option greyed out printing to HP M602X PCL6 driver

Post by docu-track99 »

When using the print dialog in conjunction with a HP M602X printer and the associated HP PCL6 driver the collate option remains greyed out when indicating to print multiple copies. The 'generic' PCL5 driver from HP does not provide all the same options necessary that the PCL6 'native' driver does, but does allow the collate option in the print dialog. The PCL6 driver to 'physical' printers does show and allow collation. Note that the PostScript driver for this printer also displays the same issue in the printer dialog with respect to the collate option -- it is greyed out.

Is this a known issue? Is there a fix -- other than losing printing options by utilizing the PCL5 driver? Or, can this be investigated for a fix to correct the collate option for the 'native' PCL6 driver for this HP printer?

Thanks.

PDF-XChange looks for a printer devices capabilities as reported by the driver, with respect to the collation, number of copies, etc. options.

If the driver reports collation is not supported, the option will be grayed out. For sure this option may be present on a printer preferences dialog, but it only means the driver handles it in 'uncommon' way or non standard manner which is not necessarily available to third party applications.

I will install the driver for the mentioned printer and check to be sure there are no errors on our viewer's side, but I'm 99.9% sure I'm right ;)
