websearch hotkey

Post by brahtkrah »

Hello..

I dont find a german forum so sry for my english.
I have a problem with the hotkey for the web search. I can put a marked text with "E" to the search input field and than there is the hotkey "STRG + E" to search in the web what is in the field. The "E" operates but than the web search give no reaction - there come only a standard windows alert like "bing".

Thanks for helping me..

Hi brahtkrah,

For Online Search once you enter the text you want you must click the search provider button to activate the web search. If I understand you correctly are saying that you assign the hotkey [Shift]+[E] for to the online search command and it doesn't do anything? If this is the issue I have recreated the behaviour and will find out from our development team whether this is a bug and get back to you on it Monday when they return to the office.

Best,
Chris

Hello Chris
Thank you. Yes there is one input field for search throw the pdf or search width google for example in web. If i press enter than it searchs the pdf. At the right i have the button "web search" with the hotkey "STRG + E" and this dont go. Only if i push with the mouse but i need the hotkey.
Ok it would be much better if i could marked a text in the pdf and push a hotkey for websearch width the standard websearch engine. But it would have been good if i can take the marked text with hotkey into the search input field (E) an than start the search width hotkey (Strg E).
I think you have understnd me. I look an Monday here. Thank you.

Hi brahtkrah,

I just tested it, and indeed the Shift-E combination is not currently used, and the Viewer allows me to assign it to "Online Search" - but then that key combination (and a few others) can't be used.

I've created a ticket in our internal system for this problem:
#1472: Viewer 2.5.201: Custom Shortcut for "Online Search" is not respected.
And we will update this forum topic as soon as there are any news.

Best,
Stefan
