Browser view - Toolbar Missing - may-2012

Post by Jan Larsen »

Hii,

I miss a "Abobe Reader" sort of toolbar - when opening a pdf-file from the web in my browser.

I cannot control this in the Viewer's settings, unfortunately - that-is I cannot enable/disable the toolbar-view.

And, on top of that - I miss more ways of control, when viewing in my webbrowser .

To exemplify this I have included a list of my requested settings :
- Switching the Viewer toolbar(s) on/off.
- Setting the zoom (directly, one step/click, instead of the current 2-way).
- a Possibility to "move directly to Viewer" ("view in / Send to PDF-Viewer").
- Save etc options.
- More menu/toolbar options, such as "text-input, marking, etc" (which can be solved with a "view in / switch to pdf-viewer" option)
[By the way: I Imagine these settings to be controlled through a "right-click" menu (maybe with sub-menus) when viewing a pdf in the browser]

The reason I miss this, is mostly because I have gotten used to marking and "personalizing" pdf's (with marker-tool, underlining, text-adding, etc.) in your PDF-Viewer "stand-alone" program.. and, when viewing in the currently limited browser-viewer, I am set back to the old "Adobe-Reader like" basic viewing, and no more ...

Hope you implement this added functionality - because these "marking tools" are features that help make your Viewer stand out, compared to the "basic Adobe Reader" viewer.

Kind Regards, and looking forward to these enhancements, and your coming Ver-3
Jan, Denmark

(Using this SW: PDF-Viewer 2.5.201 Pro, through registered Pdf-Tools v4.x)

Hi Jan,

I'm not sure I understand, as the Viewer Browser Plugin has the same tools and toolbar customization as the standalone application.

Noting that you must first click on the Viewer plugin so it has the focus of your input as use these.

F8 - hide/show toolbars
F9 - hihde/show menu bar

With the toolbar visible you can right-click it and enable/disable any of the toolbasr you wish and move them around to your liking.

You can even create you own custom toolbar with just the tool icons you wish to use as well as setup shortcut keys as is supported in the Standalone application as well.

The Zoom toolbar contains a % setting, a slider, and the + and - one click zoom buttons, as well the zoom tool is available in the right-click options, is this what you are suggesting?

I am sure alot of these points will be answered in the new viewer, if not in the initial release, in subsequent builds there after.

Once it is released and you still have suggestions you can always get back to us on it, but currently our development team is not considering any feature requests for the initial release for the new viewer as it nears completion. But more requests will be considered in the future.

If I can assist you further, please do get back to me.

Best,
Chris

Hii, sorry I didn't reply earlier (school-exam etc.).

I have now, by accident, found a way to make the toolbars view'able, in browser-view.

However, for other users the thing is to expand the right-click menu, so that it includes options for toggling the toolbars on/off.
(the way I found out, was by right-clicking and selecting "Find", and then the "menu-bar" became visible, and, then I had access to the customizeable settings for toolbars-etc.).

I now love the control, I got "by accident", in the browser view.

Kind Regards
Jan
