Remembering pdf location after crash

Post by meridian »

Hi

I was wondering if the latest version released will resume pdf positions from where they were after a crash. Currently it only remebers if the viewer is closed manually.

Thanks

Hi meridian

thanks for the post and question. While the new build released over the week end did address many issues adding this feature was not done. You still need to close the Viewer explicitly to save this.

V3 will have an auto-save feature which we are planning on expanding further down the V3 development road, certainly after the V3 initial release. Potentially this could include recovering unsaved changes to documents after a crash. Settings however are somewhat different so, while we will look into it, this may not be practical to implement. Time will tell in this case.

I was referring to the pdfs opened, and where they had been read to. You seem to be referring to changes to the PDF itself and settings of the application.

I was hoping that the "current open files" list and (or at least) the position of the currently opened file, could be saved peridocially. Even if this was only done when a single process instances was opened would be great.

Hi Meridian,

Yes your point is clear, but just as Paul stated - at this time we can't elaborate further on this, and will need to wait until after v3 is released to check if such a remembering of the actual position in the file while it is still opened is feasible.

Best,
Stefan
