Duplex scan

Hi,

I'm using pdf xchange viewer pro since its the best solution to produce pdf with ocr from scanned documents. But I'm missing the option to do duplex scans. Multifunction printers with duplex scan are'nt expensive anymore, my HP Photosmart Premium C410b is available in EU for less than 100EUR. When will XChange support duplex scanning? I've only found old topics "this will be investigated".

Hi Maurice,

PDF-Xchange essentially uses your Manufacturer's interface to perfrom the scan if using TWAIN drivers and this 'should' provide such functionality directly - and is not a funtion we code - we simply 'piggy' back on the the functions available.

However this may not be the case if your scanner does not provide TWAIN drivers - but uses WIA drivers via Windows - can you please advise which is used - WIA or TWAIN ?

Also can you duplex scan in other applications such as MS Office (not specail applications that came with your scanner - but other general use applications) ?

Hi,

thx for your reply. HP offers Twain and WIA, XChange is using the WIA-driver which offers no choice for duplex. In another application i can choose between the two drivers and if I switch to twain I can select duplex (and many more options) but Twains seems to start the scan applikation from HP.
How can I switch from WIA to Twain in XChange?

Hi Maurice,

if you are using a 64 bit Windows then you are using a 64 bit scanner driver and this most likely means WIA as 64 bit Twain is very rare to find.

the simplest soltion is to use the 'Portable Version' of the Viewer as it will always be 32 bit and you should be able to use the twain drivers. Download this https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDFX_Vwr_Port.zip and extract the folder to your hard drive. Run the executable inside (PDFXCview.exe).

Let us know if you can use duplex using the Twain driver hat way.
