Can't save large file

I am working with a large PDF file (220 30" x 42" drawings) with many bookmarks and annotations. After working with it for several days using PDF-Xchange Viewer Pro version 2.5 build 192.0, adding more and more bookmarks and annotations, it won't save. I can't save it to the VPN drive it was on, or "save as" to a local drive or "save copy as" to a local drive. It hangs with the Saving to progress bar at 67% and the Writing Document progress bar at 1% or 2%. What can I do? I would hate to lose my work.

hmmm,

the first ting I would do is export your comments as an fdf file. At least then if you cannot manage to save this PDF as is for some reason you should be able to import your work again.

Comments --> Export Comments to Data File...

For the Bookmarks you can

• 1. make new blank document.
  2. go to your source document, select all bookmarks and "Copy" using the context menu
  3. go to your new document --> Bookmarks View and "Paste" the bookmarks
  4. save the new document to local disk.

This way even if you never do manage to save this document you will be able to open it from the last version you have that worked and apply the comments and bookmarks you were working on.

Though it doesn't help you right now, we are planning on implementing document recovery in V3 in case your Viewer is closed without saving changes.

I would also ensure you update your build to the latest Version: 2.5.204 release ...

Finally - with any application - it is always wise to save incrementally as you make changes to ensure if you have some PC or power failure - that your work is not lost - have you really left the same document 'Open' for several days and not saved it once ????
