Hi, I have recently started using PDF-XChange Viewer (free version) but cannot get it to return to the last page I viewed when I re-open a document.
I have cone over all the settings in preferences several times and searched these forums and tried anything that sounded relevant, like max doc's in recent, clearing everything out and starting again etc. but nothing seems to work for me.

Hello mgb,
And welcome to our forums.
Please make sure that you have build 2.5.205 of our Viewer (Help -> About) and if not please download and install it from here:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDFXVwer.zip
Make sure that the "Max documents in recent" is enabled and then fo to Edit -> Preferences -> Page Display and click the "Restore last used Layout and Zoom settings for files from the recent list" is also selected and all should be fine.
If you move a file - this will be considered a separate entry for the Viewer - so it will "forget" which was the last page you viewed from the same file in a previous folder.
Best,
Stefan

Thanks for your reply.
I seem to have found a fix of sorts.
I checked all these settings, "Max documents in recent" is enabled and set to 50 and "Restore last used Layout and Zoom settings for files from the recent list" is also enabled.
I have only tried viewing one document so far since installing PDF-XChange Viewer v2.5.205 and it has always been on my desktop and it was still going back to the first page whenever I re-opened it.
I then tried uninstalling and reinstalling a couple of times, but it still would not remember the last page so while having another look at the web site to see if the free version might restricted from saving suh details I noticed the portable version so gave it a try and it works fine, only problem I am having with that is that windoze keeps forgetting that I want to use it to open PDF files.

Hi mgb,
If there isn't some script in the file that will force it to always open on page 1 - the portable and stand alone Viewer should work exactly the same.
What I can offer you is to try and reset all the settings in the Viewer to their defaults (make sure to back them up first) - and if this doesn't help - export the settings from the portable Viewer, and then import them in the installed one.
You should now have the correct settings and all files will be opened on the same page you closed them, and you can now remove the portable Viewer.
Best,
Stefan
