Hi,
I am using SysInternals Destops 1.02 and have today installed PDF-XChange Viewer. When a PDF document is open on one desktop and I try to open another one on another desktop, the second one will not open before I close the first one.
This is very annoying. Do you know a way to make PDF-XChange Viewer work with multiple desktops?
Thanks
Kit

Re: PDF-XChange Viewer and multiple desktops
Hello Kit,
I am afraid that by default our Viewer will "lock" the file - as it offers PDF manipulation tools - and to ensure that it's the only application modifying a file it needs to lock it for editting, and as such no other applications (even other instances of our own Viewer) can access the file at the same time.
There's a way to launch our Viewer in a read only mode - but this requires calls from a command line like e.g.:
Another option is to make a particular file Read Only in Windows - and you should then be able to open it in two instances of the Viewer.
Best,
Stefan

Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF Viewer\PDFXCview.exe" /A "nolock=yes=OpenParameters" sample.pdfBest,

Re: PDF-XChange Viewer and multiple desktops
Hi Stefan,
thanks for your response. However, as I said in my question, I am talking about _different_ files. I open document A on desktop 1 and want to open document B on desktop 2. Nevertheless, PDF-XChange Viewer on desktop B will not show up, before PDF-XChange Viewer on desktop A has been closed.
Thanks
Kit

Re: PDF-XChange Viewer and multiple desktops
Hi Kit,
Ops - apologies -seems I misunderstood your original post.
Then please open the Viewer on any desktop - and go to Edit -> Preferences -> General and near the bottom search for "Allow multiple instances" checkbox. Enable that and see if the Viewer will now be launching on the two separate desktops simultaneously.
Best,
Stefan
