OK button grayed out in "Add new Search Provider" dialog box

Post by Armin Mutscheller »

Hi all,

Any attempt to add a new Web search provider (Preferences => Search providers => Manage search providers" fails due to the OK button being grayed out (disabled). Can somebody confirm this behaviour and/or offer a solution? Many thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
Armin

Hello Armin,

Are you performing the steps for adding a new search provider correctly?
(you need to open the desired search provider and search for the word "TEST" in it - in all capital letters - and then copy and paste the whole URL for the test result in the relevant field when creating a new provider)
If you are still having problems please take a screenshot of the problem, include it in a .zip/.7z archive and attach it to this topic for us to investigate further!

Best,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Yes, I did perform the test correctly, but the URL returned the search word TEST in mixed-case spelling (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Test). Changing 'Test' into 'TEST' manually then made the OK button accessible. Problem solved!

Thank you
Armin

Hi Armin,

Yes Wikipedia is a bit specific and will not natively show you the correct string you need.
Please try entering this string when asked in the "Add new search provider" window:

Code: Select all

Best,
Stefan
